  • The Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) is a professional, registered nurse who is a skilled communicator, collaborator and authentic leader.
  • Supports the organization in the execution of the nursing strategic plan and priorities.
  • Participates in unit and hospital decision-making and provides meaningful recognition to others.
  • Provides operational and administrative support to Nurse leadership.
  • Coordinates staffing, supports throughput, quality and safety outcomes, staff competency, hiring, clinical and staff corrective actions, unit efficiency, quality care and other departmental activities.
  • Assesses, plans, implements, monitors and evaluates nursing practice and the nursing care delivery system with direct supervision of front-line staff.
  • Interprets, supports, and communicates policies, standards and procedures.
  • Serves as a role model for staff in all aspects of nursing (professionalism, quality care).
  • Assists in identifying cost containment measures.
  • Serves on-call based on unit requirements.
  • Assumes special projects as assigned.
  • Adheres to organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
  • Participates with recruitment and retention strategies.
  • Assists with unit huddles and leader rounding with employees.
  • Participates with unit goal creation reflective of hospital goals and mission.
  • Participates or leads evidence-based practice projects or research.
  • Participates or leads unit-based or hospital based shared governance committees or councils.
  • Resolves conflicts and facilitates constructive resolutions.
  • Completes employee corrective action plans/counseling as necessary.
  • Prepares and conducts periodic performance evaluations.
  • Contributes to and/or monitors unit orientation process.
  • Participates with and models employee recognition.
  • Models cultural competence, social justice and fairness, and capitalizes on generational diversity.
  • Escalates nursing labor/management issues where applicable.
  • Participates in payroll, staff scheduling and daily staffing needs.
  • Assists in management of department budget.
  • Monitors business intelligence for the unit.
  • Maximizes care efficiency and throughput.
  • Understands relationship between value-based purchasing and quality outcomes with revenue and reimbursement.
  • Monitors unit staffing productivity and flexes staff accordingly.
  • Optimizes patient and family experience of care.
  • Leads multidisciplinary rounds.
  • Ensures unit-based performance improvement monitoring is completed, trended and reported.
  • Leads or participates with quality improvement projects.
  • Leads or conducts root cause analysis investigations.
  • Assures unit regulatory compliance.
  • Participates in staff education and competency.
  • Serves as a role model and mentor to others, including new employees and Charge RNs.
    Job Requirements
  • Minimum 3 years recent nursing experience in respective specialty or equivalent.
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing patient needs.
  • Strong sense of accountability for improving lives of patients and caregivers.
  • Exceptional focus on teamwork.
  • Dedication to ongoing education.
  • Ability and passion to deliver highest quality of care based on strong patient focus.
