Job Description
EJ Wyson Trucking, Inc. is seeking a dedicated Safety Director to oversee and expand our safety program as well as ensure compliance with all DOT/FMCSA regulations. The Safety Director will play a critical role in fostering the safety culture and maintaining a secure working environment for all employees. This role requires someone with a strong background in DOT/FMCSA regulations, drivers' hours of service, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to effectively communicate safety policies and procedures at all levels.
Key Responsibilities
Policy Development and Implementation:
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety policies and procedures aligned with industry standards and regulatory requirements (OSHA, state regulations).
- Regularly review and update safety policies to reflect changes in legislation and industry practices.
Safety Training and Awareness:
- Design and deliver comprehensive safety training programs for all employees, including new hires, covering topics like hazard identification, personal protective equipment (PPE) use, emergency procedures, and specific job-related safety protocols.
- Conduct regular safety awareness campaigns and refreshers to reinforce safety culture.
Incident Investigation and Reporting:
- Review safety events and telematics through our Samsara fleet safety program.
- Analyze data to identify trends and implement preventative measures.
Compliance Management:
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local safety regulations.
- Maintain required safety records and reports for regulatory agencies.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with department managers and supervisors to promote safety awareness and accountability at all levels.
- Communicate safety concerns and updates to employees through various channels.
- Lead our safety committee and meetings.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Strong understanding of DOT and OSHA regulations as well as other relevant safety standards.

- Strong organizational and motivational skills, attention to detail, and ability to analyze data and assess risks.
