Position Overview:
The Transportation Manager at Wilcox Family Farms will be responsible for managing and optimizing the company s internal transportation operations. This includes overseeing a team of truck drivers and managing broker relationships to ensure efficient routing, delivery, and fleet management. The role requires a hands-on leader who can manage both operational and personnel aspects of the transportation function.

Key Responsibilities:

Driver and Route Management:
•   Manage a team of 6-8 internal truck drivers and coordinate with brokers to cover additional routes.
•   Plan and oversee daily routing for deliveries, ensuring timely and efficient transportation of goods.
•   Manage logistics related to direct store delivery, feed transportation, and pullet movement.
•   Oversee routing of all deliveries to Costco depots, utilizing brokers for backhauls when possible.
Fleet and Safety Operations:
•   Implement and manage safety programs for dump trucks and other vehicles.
•   Monitor fleet performance and address issues related to maintenance, routing, and driver compliance.
•   Adjust routing and delivery plans following Costco s transition to depot-based distribution.
•   Maintain a strong focus on safety and regulatory compliance within transportation operations.
Leadership and Management:
•   Recruit, train, and supervise drivers, maintaining a focus on safety, efficiency, and compliance.
•   Lead a team in the load-out warehouse, supervising approximately 5 warehouse employees.
•   Foster a hands-on, proactive management approach, actively engaging with both drivers and warehouse staff.
•   Ensure effective communication and collaboration between drivers, brokers, and the supply chain team.
Qualifications:
•   Minimum 3-5 years of experience in transportation management, logistics, or a related field.
•   Experience managing both internal drivers and brokered transportation routes.
•   Hands-on leadership style with the ability to actively participate in daily operations.
•   Previous truck driving experience is highly preferred, but experience managing drivers is essential.
•   Strong understanding of safety regulations and best practices for fleet operations.
•   Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a diverse team.
•   Familiarity with agricultural or food distribution logistics is a plus Date posted: 05/20/2025
