The Caring Place Rescue Mission & Broward Outreach Centers) is a leading provider of services to the homeless and needy of South Florida. We are looking for like-minded, dynamic individuals to come and join our team. The Caring Place provides emergency shelter, residential programs, job training, education & computer literacy classes, healthcare, transitional housing, permanent housing, employment opportunities for homeless men, women, and children as well as programs for "at-risk" youth.

We are currently seeking a FT Transitional Housing Coordinator at The Caring Place Center for Men in Miami, FL

JOB SUMMARY

The Transitional Housing Coordinator (THC) reports to the Program Manager and assists in the coordination of Transitional Housing for residents, resident compliance and after care, in a professional, loving and compassionate manner in both Miami and Broward County. The THC will contact and meet with house managers regularly for support, review housing issues, chores, needed repairs, and house walkthrough. The THC will compile monthly reports as directed by manger. The THC is responsible for ensuring that all program rules are being followed, monthly Urine Analysis are conducted, and program fees are submitted in a timely manner. Duties will also include documenting and requesting needed repairs, and offering guidance and support to residents. The THC will also assist in the Guest Services department as needed, and may also assist in special events coordination.

CORE DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Monitors the behavior of transitional housing residents to ensure compliance with all Agency and transitional housing guidelines.
  • Assists Program Manager with OSHA compliance, fire drills/inspections, fire extinguisher inspections, required permits, licenses and other inspections.
  • Makes recommendations for removing residents with serious infraction to the Program Manager.
  • Assists with collecting program fees and accounts for payments received.
  • Documents incidents accurately and on time.
  • Willingly covers the Guest Services function whenever business needs dictate.
  • Documents safety violations and maintenance needs and keeps manager informed.
  • Keeps Program Manager informed of all transitional housing issues, and submits accurate/timely reports.
  • Maintains an acceptable attendance record and follows attendance policy guidelines.
  • Completes timesheets and incident reports accurately.
  • Treats residents with respect, and shows compassion and love in all interactions with residents.
  • Sets a good example for residents to follow, and maintains appropriate boundaries with residents.
  • Attends company-sponsored events to support the residents we serve
  • Assesses client needs for basis of developing individual housing stabilization plan.
  • Provides housing resources based on client needs and preferences
  • Works with residents to develop and implement Self Sufficiency Plans (SSP)
  • Monitors resident progress towards SSP goals and updates as needed.
  • Provides linkage and referrals to community services, agencies, and activities
  • Maintains all client records and information in accordance with the Agency's policies
  • Intervenes in crisis and emergency situations as needed
  • Will lead and/or participate in devotions, prayers, or other ministry activities ex. outreach events
  • Must be in agreement with and sign The Caring Place Statement of Faith
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Requires a High School Diploma or GED and a minimum of two (2) years of experience working with the homeless population in a similar capacity
  • Must be knowledgeable of community housing resources available to residents
  • Must have good communication and organizational skills with knowledge of basic facility maintenance and security
  • Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact with residents and community partners in a professional and courteous manner
  • Requires excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Must be computer literate have experience with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods, and have the ability to lift and/or pull objects weighing up to 25 pounds
  • Must also be able to see, hear and speak, in order to interact with staff and the general public
  • Must also be able to move around as needed to perform essential job duties
