Job Summary/Basic Function:About This Role:
The Transcript Evaluator is responsible for evaluating incoming domestic college, community college, and university transcripts, with a focus on online applicants who are first-time students. This role develops and maintains an updated cross-reference system of courses from various educational institutions. They process information to determine the exact status of transferred classes and provide accurate accounting of these classes to the university records system, academic departments, and student applicants. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Assistant Director of Admissions.
What You'll Do - Position Responsibilities:
- Evaluate all international high school and college transcripts to determine US equivalency on all international records.
- Transcribe course equivalencies for undergraduate and international college transcripts.
- Maintain knowledge of international educational systems, and recognize academic, technical, and quarter-hour coursework.
- Assign credit based on standardized transfer tests such as CLEP and Advanced Placement while consulting with and advising students concerning transfer practices and policies.
- Assist campus colleges and departments with course equivalency and evaluate tech-prep coursework.

- Ability to assess and interpret complex academic records international and domestic high school, college, and university curriculums, and understand equivalency standards.
- Managing priorities effectively, such as focusing on online applicants while balancing tasks like maintaining a cross-reference system.
- Tackling challenges like discrepancies in academic records or unclear course equivalencies with logical effective solutions.
- Staying updated on evolving educational standards and procedures and adjusting to new policies or priorities as directed by the Assistant Director of Admissions.
- Working closely with admissions and other departments to ensure the seamless integration of transfer credits into the university system.
Physical Requirements: The physical requirements are minimal but do include prolonged sitting, frequent use of a keyboard and office equipment, and repetitive tasks.

Benefits - Lamar University Minimum Qualifications:- Associate's degree in education, or 4 years' experience in a related field. Combination of college credit and applicable experience may be substituted.
- 2 years' experience in a college transfer and or admission setting.
- Knowledge of interpretation and evaluation of university catalogs.
- Thorough understanding of college course organization and curriculum.
