Orrick currently has an excellent opportunity for a
Transaction Clerk with its
Technology Companies Group practicein the
Menlo Park office.
As a Transaction Clerk, you will work side-by-side with attorneys and paralegals, performing real-time client work and doing factual research and document production to contribute to client success. You will support the delivery of quality legal services to clients. Responsibilities include completing technical and administrative tasks that require accuracy, attention to detail, strong organizational skills, strong written and oral communication skills, and computer proficiency.
You will gain experience and to develop a greater understanding of corporate transactional work. There are opportunities to work on more advanced projects that may be delegated to the PAs. You will assist others in all aspects of corporate work.
Our Transaction Clerk positions are ideal entry-level positions for those who are interested in the legal field and want to get 2 years of hands-on experience before attending law school.
Responsibilities
- Provide general assistance in coordinating transactions from inception to closing
- Provide support attorneys and paralegals of all levels in the formation of various business entities
- Assist with the organization of documents for transactions
- Communicate with clients and other team members
- Assist with closing preparation and provide general assistance at closing. This includes preparing closing documents, preparing signature pages, maintaining closing checklist, and indexing and handling closing document files.
- Demonstrate effective teamwork.
- Work in coordination with other departments and individuals in the firm.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree required with a strong academic background.
- Prior legal experience or the equivalent Transaction Clerk experience is useful but not required. Prior office experience is helpful.
- Prior experience with startups and/or technology companies is also useful but not required.
- Have flexibility, have the ability to prioritize and organize multiple tasks in a dynamic working environment.
- Be attentive to details, have flexibility with your work schedule and have demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Have the ability to become familiar with the procedures, terminology and documents relating to complex transactions
- Ability to work in a forward-thinking working environment within a team environment.
- Advanced computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Strong time-management skills are required.
- A passionate desire to work with startups is a must.

Compensation and Benefits The expected salary range for this position is between $50,000 to $69,000.
Orrick is committed to providing a comprehensive, competitive, and thoughtful total compensation package to our attorneys and staff, wherever they work. This compensation and benefits information is based on the Orrick's estimate as of the date of publication and may be modified in the future. The level of pay within the range will depend on a variety of job-related factors that may include, but not limited to, qualifications, relevant experience or education, particular skills or expertise, geography. Other compensation may include an annual discretionary merit bonus, which would be determined by Firm and individual performance.
