BWC's core hours of operation are Monday-Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm, however, daily start/end times may vary based on operational need across BWC departments. Most positions perform work on-site at one of BWC's seven offices across the state. BWC offers flex-time work schedules that allow an employee to start the day as early as 7:00am or as late as 8:30am. Flex-time schedules are based on operational need and require supervisor approval.

What You'll Be Doing:
  • Plan, organize, develop and monitor all training activities of the Computer Training and Education unit at the Bureau of Workers' Compensation (BWC).
  • Supervise employees who are assessing and analyzing training and performance needs, planning, designing, developing, delivering and evaluating instructional programs for a variety of delivery methods.
  • Assign and prioritize projects to staff and monitor progress for timely completion.
  • Ensures that established performance measures and standards are met to maintain professional competence.
  • Coordinates and develops training programs in conjunction with BWC customers to deliver appropriate training in all areas directly related to computer education and technology.

Qualifications

To Qualify, You Must Clearly Demonstrate:

24 months experience preparing & delivering informational & instructional programs for adults using instructional design model & doing & analyzing performance needs assessments.

-OR completion of undergraduate core program in instructional design, adult learning, education, instructional technology, or related field.

-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications noted above.

Job Skills: Training

Major Worker Characteristics:

Knowledge of supervisory principles/techniques ; management science (i.e., HR training & development containing introduction to behavioral concepts & organizational practices related to training & developing human resources and organizational development); BWC Training Dept. policies, procedures & programs ; psychology of foundations of learning, transfer, motivation & evaluation; public speaking or effective communication techniques; employee training & development; instructional design & adult learning principles interviewing; civil service laws & project management; desktop publishing; principles of visual design

Skill in use of PC; MS Office products (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint); office equipment (e.g., fax, copier) audiovisual equipment. Learning Management Systems; layout & design; eLearning authoring tools such as Captivate and Articulate; critical thinking, operation of audiovisual equipment (e.g., Multimedia projector, laptop computer).

Ability to deal with some abstract but mostly concrete variables; write training instructions; gather, collate, & classify information about data, people or things; analyze & communicate concepts in pertinent area of training; establish friendly atmosphere as supervisor of work unit; complete routing forms; maintain accurate records; interview job applicants successfully; manage diverse project teams; manage an instructional design project; develop performance objectives & tests for instructional design; selects appropriate instructional techniques, methods, & media for each instructional situation, facilitates groups (e.g., Classes, meetings, interviews with experts); uses appropriate feedback techniques with learners, subject matter experts & others.
