Buffalo Psychiatric Center is recruiting a Training Specialist 1 to develop and present training programs to improve the on-the-job knowledge, skills, and abilities of facility staff. Candidates from outside or within State Service can apply.
Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement - Statewide (NY HELPS) program if they have a bachelor's degree and 2 years of professional experience developing and presenting training programs to improve the on-the-job knowledge, skills, and abilities of employees to enable them to carry out an agency's mission.
Substitution: Juris Doctor, master's or higher degree in a related field can substitute for one year of specialized experience.
OR
Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they are reachable on a current Professional Career Opportunities (PCO) eligible list. Appointment from this eligible list would be as a Training Specialist 1 Trainee and to be advanced to the full performance level, Trainee Specialist 1, you must successfully complete a 2 year traineeship.
OR
Candidates within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they are reachable on the Public Administration Traineeship Transition (PATT) eligible list. Appointment from this eligible list would be as a Training Specialist 1 Trainee and to be advanced to the full performance level, Trainee Specialist 1, you must successfully complete a 2 year traineeship.
OR
Candidates within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
Duties Description As a Training Specialist 1 you will work in the Education and Training Department and your duties include:
• Developing and presenting trainings to facility staff.
• Assisting program managers and supervisors in developing training programs that will optimize performance.
• Monitoring training requirements and deadlines.
• Maintaining web-based learning management system including entering completed training and running reports.

Additional Comments:
Salary range listed encompasses the hiring rate of a Training Specialist Trainee 1 (SG-NS) through the job rate of a Training Specialist 1 (SG-18).
Training Specialist Trainee 1: $49,363
Training Specialist Trainee 2: $52,198
Training Specialist 1: $65,001 - $82,656
