Trainee Advanced Neonatal Practitioner - NICU

Ensure the provision of a high standard of family-centred, evidence-based nursing and medical care using advanced clinical skills from pre-admission to discharge of babies on the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and the Transitional Care Unit (TC). This includes patient assessment skills and developing care and treatment plans daily.

Support the midwifery team in delivering care to babies across inpatient maternity services, where assessment and care planning may be required. This role sits within the junior doctor tier of the medical roster.

Ensure the NICU Multi-disciplinary Team participates in developing local and network policies, guidelines, action plans, and benchmarks, contributing to the development of the Neonatal Service within the Neonatal Network and Women and Children's Division.

Implement the Neonatal Network and Trust nursing strategy within the Neonatal Unit, providing evidence of integration into practice through audits and advising the Divisional Leadership Team on service developments that support the business plan.

Support the Practice Development Nurse to ensure neonatal staff are educationally supported to deliver family-centred, clinically effective care during the baby's journey through the Neonatal Pathway.

Main duties of the job

On appointment, undertake advanced neonatal nurse practitioner training to:

  1. Promote high standards of advanced specialist nursing and medical care by assessing, planning, delivering, and evaluating the holistic needs of babies, parents/carers, and families through evidence-based practice, following policies and guidelines.
  2. Respond to maternity services calls to assess babies' conditions and provide specialist advice.

  • Registered Nurse in Child or Adult, RSCN, or Registered Midwife
  • Teaching and Assessing Qualification

  • MSc in Advanced Neonatal Practice
Experience
  • Experience supervising and assessing learners

Salary: £37,338 to £44,962 per year, dependent on experience and qualifications, pro rata.
