Position Summary: We are seeking an experienced candidate for a trading position in our client's fast paced Raw Materials and Optimization Group (RMOG). This position will be responsible for development, profitability, and success within the RMOG. The candidate will coordinate with other Brokerage offices, Transportation, Finance, while performing brokerage duties and responsibilities.
We would like to have 1 person West of the Mississippi. Responsibilities of a Trader: - Continuously investigating new suppliers and consumers of ferrous scrap and raw materials while developing and building relationships with individuals responsible for buying and selling.
- Must be knowledgeable of all aspects associated with brokered scrap as well as being cognizant of current market conditions to provide an optimum total cost approach.
- Will contribute market research and forecasting to coordinate the development of micro and macro level strategies; while also being responsible for presenting growth initiatives, value added ideas, and cross selling within other divisions of the company.
- Significant travel will be required (50%-80%) in order to meet accounts face to face to establish and maintain effective business relationships
- Maintaining quality standards and resolving settlement of discrepancies within management guidelines.
Requirements for a Trader Role: - Ideal Candidate will have 3-5 years trading experience in the scrap metals industry or other industrial sales experience.
- Must be a self-starter with ability to initiate business as well as possess strong negotiating and problem solving skills.
- Must be an effective communicator.
- Will consider a well experienced candidate.
- Broad range of salary is based on experience level of candidates.
- Company performance bonus normally ranges 10-15%. (Could potentially be more.)
- Preference will be given to a BA/BS degree in Business Administration or related degree as well as a combination of experience/education.
- Must have the ability to effectively function both independently and as a member of a cross functional team with a commitment to cooperation, collaboration, among business functions.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office including Excel and Word as well as ERP software.
- Strong oral and written skills; adept in statistical analysis and market research; and, a strong knowledge of the scrap recycling industry.
- Integrity, leadership, decision making, and entrepreneurial skills are required.
