Position Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Tourism Specialist to promote local attractions, events, and services to residents, visitors, and partner organizations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the local area, excellent communication skills, and a genuine enthusiasm for connecting people with memorable experiences. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys engaging with the community, supporting regional growth, and creating a positive visitor experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide information and recommendations to visitors regarding local events, attractions, accommodations, and services
Develop and maintain relationships with tourism partners, local businesses, and community organizations
Assist with the planning, promotion, and execution of local events and tourism-related initiatives
Create and distribute tourism materials such as brochures and maps
Maintain and update online listings, event calendars, and social media content related to tourism
Respond to inquiries via phone, email, and in person with professionalism and enthusiasm
Track visitor statistics and gather feedback to improve tourism efforts
Represent the organization at events, meetings, and outreach activities
Support marketing campaigns and public engagement strategies that encourage tourism and community involvement
Qualifications:
Prior experience in tourism, hospitality, marketing, or customer service preferred
Strong knowledge of local attractions, businesses, and cultural resources
Excellent communication, public speaking, and interpersonal skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
Comfortable using social media platforms and digital communication tools
Friendly, approachable, and community-minded attitude
High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in tourism, hospitality, or marketing is a plus
Tourism certification is required
