Position Title: Total Teen Takeover Supervisor

Performance Profile Source: Supervisor

Department: Teen

Work Location: This position requires on-site presence at Albany and Troy Clubhouses. Remote work is not available.

Reports to: Regional Teen Director

Salary Range: $18.00 - $20.00/hr (depending on experience)

Hours & Schedule: Monday-Thursday 12:00pm-8:00pm, Friday 1:00pm-9:00pm (32 hours/week)

Classification: Full-Time, Non-Exempt

KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):

The following job functions are considered essential for this position:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the clubhouse teen programs across both locations
  • Ensure accurate and prompt record keeping and data collection including program attendance, CACFP meal service, grant reports, and member tracking systems
  • Provide comprehensive program reports as needed to Regional Teen Director and other stakeholders
  • Maintain positive relationships and provide support to volunteers and community partners serving in our clubhouses
  • Assist in planning and attendance of member recruitment events, open houses, and program registration drives
  • Ensure BGC programs are being executed as intended and meet quality standards
  • Contribute to the development of new programs and events to meet the evolving needs and interests of teens in our community
  • Communicate effectively with staff, members, parents, colleagues, volunteers, and community partners
  • Serve as the leader for Friday Teen Night events including planning, shopping, setup, and execution
  • Ensure the safety of members by following BGC, BGCCA, and all health and safety guidelines while monitoring staff and volunteers for compliance
  • Provide program information, pictures, and member stories for newsletters and marketing materials
  • Develop and monitor compliance of operating procedures in accordance with BGCCA standards for Teen Youth Development Professionals (T-YDPs)
  • Provide leadership and respond appropriately to all emergencies and incidents
  • Participate in assigned committees and complete all assigned trainings
  • Ensure health and safety of members by following emergency procedures and BGCCA policies

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position supervises Teen Youth Development Professional team members. Responsibilities include:

  • Hiring, training, scheduling, and supervising T-YDPs
  • Conducting employee performance evaluations, disciplinary notices, and performance improvement plans in accordance with BGCCA policy and procedure
  • Managing and ensuring accuracy of employee timekeeping including monitoring overtime, managing punches, staying within scheduled time, and approving timecards at the end of each payroll period
  • Utilizing scheduling software to schedule staff in accordance with state regulations and grant funding parameters

Work environment:

Fast-paced youth development environment serving teenagers ages 13-18. Work involves both indoor and outdoor settings, interaction with diverse populations, and coordination between multiple program sites. Environment requires flexibility, strong leadership presence, and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

Travel required:

Regular local travel required between Albany and Troy Clubhouse locations. Occasional travel for training, conferences, or community events as needed.


RELATIONSHIPS:

Internal: Maintain close, daily contact with Club staff (professional and volunteer), Club members, and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines/instructions, instruct, and advise/counsel

External: Maintain contact with external community groups, schools, members' parents and others to assist in resolving problems and building community partnerships

Requirements:

CREDENTIALS, SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

Education and Experience:

  • Associate's Degree in youth development, education, social work, or related field required
  • Minimum 2 years experience as an educator, counselor, caseworker, employment interviewer, or similar title in a community action, social service, education, or similar agency dealing with employment, education, or training
  • Must have experience working with at-risk, underserved populations
  • Experience with group facilitation preferred
  • Supervisory experience preferred

Required Certifications:

  • Valid driver's license required
  • Must complete all required BGCCA and BGCA training within first 90 days
  • CPR and First Aid certification required (or willingness to obtain within 60 days)

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong leadership and supervisory capabilities
  • Knowledge of continuing education options, including high school, trade, and college programs
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including periodic evenings and weekends
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate appropriately
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment
  • Proficient with Google Office Suite or related software
  • Experience with scheduling software preferred
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Must pass a comprehensive background check, including fingerprinting, child abuse clearance, and sex offender registry check, as required by BGCCA/NYSED/OCFS regulations

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This position may require:

  • Standing/walking for up to 8 hours per day
  • Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds
  • Extended periods of engaging in physical activities with teenagers
  • Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations
  • Regular verbal communication with teens, staff, and parents
  • Visual acuity to monitor teen activities and safety
  • Ability to work in various indoor and outdoor environments
