Position Summary:
The Tooling Engineer will be responsible for overseeing the designs of all injection molding tooling working with the product and process engineers. They will be responsible for the organization of and maintaining injection mold tooling and drawings. Inspect incoming mold and mold components and do minor tooling adjustments or repairs. To do well in this role the candidate should have previous experience in mold making and be skilled in CAD systems and must have strong knowledge in reading technical drawings.
Qualifications:
- 5 years of experience - injection molding preferred.
- Degree optional
- Knowledgeable in machining practices.
- Must be proficient in the use of CAD systems (SolidWorks or Catia a plus)
- Strong organizational and follow-up skills.
- Professional presentation and attitude.
- Ability to maintain focus while multitasking projects.
- Works well within a team environment.
- Proficient in the interpretation of blueprints and basic GD&T.
Duties and responsibilities
- Review RFQs and have ownership of purchases of tooling.
- Prepare work instructions and oversee technical data needed for day-to-day tooling maintenance.
- Track tooling KPIs and critical spare parts.
- Support the Operations Manager in meeting goals.
- Responsible for maintaining all injection mold technical data updates.
- Attend occasional mold first-offs at suppliers to validate conformity.
- Work with Product/Quality Engineers to proof new and existing tools.
- Work with Engineering/Sales to quote new tooling.
- Coordinate with production to manage tool maintenance and engineering changes.
