Job Description: ITW Shakeproof is seeking a
Tool Room Administrator who is responsible for direct oversight and management of the Machesney Park Plant Tool Room. The Administrator organizes and controls the tooling inventory and performs elements of maintenance on the tooling. The Administrator also manages the tooling budget and all tool processing with partner tool shops. The Administrator works with Operations to trouble shoot tooling related issues in the cold heading machines. The role also requires an individual to lead and assist in tooling design, tool use training and tool modification in the tool shop. The successful candidate will report directly to the Plant Manager.
Essential Responsibilities: - Tool Inventory Management through tracking of all tools, their location, status (in use, available, needing maintenance), and ensuring proper storage.
- Schedules regular maintenance, repairing damaged tools, and overseeing tool calibration to ensure accuracy.
- Examine standard or previously used dies, tools, and jigs and fixtures, and recommend design modifications regarding construction and function of part.
- Provides training on how to use specific tools, troubleshooting tool issues, and supports engineers and operators with tool-related questions.
- Works with Cold Heading operators to trouble shoot tooling problems related to machinery to achieve maximum productivity.
- Direct continuous improvement efforts in tooling applications, budget and inventory management.
- Manages the flow of tools into and out of the shop floor, ensuring that the correct tools are available when needed, including all Tool Shop administration
- Partners with 3rd party Shops to source new tooling, repair existing tooling and manage inventory.
- Performance to comply with all company Procedures, Policies, Work Instructions, knowledge of internal and external requirements as well as accepted Automotive and OSHA requirements
- Ensures that all tooling processes and practices adhere to relevant safety regulations and standards
Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience with QAD preferred.
- Proven self-directed leadership with Continuous Improvement systems including the ability to improve processes and utilize structured problem-solving methods to deliver breakthrough business results.
- Strong analytical skills and collaborative team leadership competencies.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to coordinate and communicate activities between internal and external stakeholders, engineers, operators, and other staff.
- Demonstrated proficiency with ERP systems and analytics within Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, tooling types, and relevant equipment.
- Strong organizational skills for managing inventory, maintenance schedules, and training records.
- Ability to troubleshoot tooling issues and identify solutions.
- Ability to train and mentor others on tool usage and best practices.
- Basic Math skills required.
- Knowledge of MVP systems preferred.
- Automotive experience is highly preferred.
- Ability to be a team player and decision maker.
Compensation Information: $29-$45 per hour
