Job Description:

Do you love researching and working through complex real estate transactions? Old Republic Title is seeking a title officer to provide solid information to our teams and customers in the real estate space. Our company leverages best-in-class technology and the best escrow and underwriter partners in the industry. The person selected for this position will work with our teams in a fast-paced setting supporting our title team, which may include performing title examinations, analyzing data, verifying key information, and collaborating with escrow, customers, attorneys, and lenders. In this role, you will demonstrate analytical skills, strong problem-solving, communication abilities and organizational skills. The title officer is responsible for effectively accomplishing the real estate closing transaction and ensuring title insurability.

This will be an in-office position until the training period is completed, at which time a hybrid-office arrangement may be made.

Minimum of five years as a title officer to be considered.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • The primary duty of this position is to review and interpret recorded instruments for their effect on real property, and the writing of commitments in compliance with the Company's guidelines for all types of real property. The following are examples of duties and responsibilities this position requires:
  • Verify all property and tax information obtained is complete and correctly reported.
  • Verify all necessary maps and additional documents for customer packages are made for each search.
  • Confirm that starter base is appropriate for run start date, and all subsequent information is included in search package.
  • Review and interpret all documents, maps and instruments contained in the chain of title obtained from various property information systems from patent or an appropriate starter date.
  • Write commitments and coverage specific guarantees in conformance with preferred title insurance practices and company policy for all types of property including major projects, high liability transactions, and light commercial.
  • Provide document copies, research projects, color coded maps and other items as requested by escrow departments and clients.
  • Provides coaching, direction and resolution to issues for the Title Examiner I and II positions.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILILITIES:
  • A minimum of five years as a title officer, seven to ten is preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of locating techniques and legal descriptions used for real property.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of real property computer database programs, and the ability to compile accurate and complete title information abstracts from the following real property information systems:
  • Data Trace
  • Data Tree
  • Tract Book Systems
  • Grantor/Grantee Indices
  • Moderate knowledge of title insurance practices, real estate law and Company policy relating to the issuance of commitments and policies of title insurance from complex and long title searches
  • Ability to operate effectively under time constraints and produce accurate preliminary reports from long and complex difficult title searches.
  • Good interpersonal skills for developing client and coworker relationships.


The estimated pay range stated represents the typical pay range for this position or similarly employed employees or employees performing substantially similar work. Factors which may be used to determine the actual pay rate may include, but are not limited to, education, training or experience; seniority; merit and work performance; quantity or quality of production; regional differences in compensation; differences in local minimum wages, or ability and effort.

Position's Pay Range:

$36.00 to $48.00 per hour.

This position may be eligible to earn commissions based on applicable incentive compensation or commission plan(s). Specifics pertaining to the calculation and payment of those commissions will be reflected in individual commission or incentive plan documents.
