Buena Vista University is seeking a Title III Project Director to lead and manage Every Student Matters, a recently awarded Department of Education Title III grant. The Every Student Matters program focuses on fostering student success both in and out of the classroom by providing additional student support through improvements to institutional policies, teaching pedagogy, and creating a greater sense of belonging for all members of the BVU community. The successful candidate will lead all initiatives, manage the budget, and coordinate with campus faculty and staff to carry out the project. The Project Director will also prepare federal grant reports and develop strategies to sustain the work initiated with this grant. The Grant Project Director position is a full-time, 12-month position funded under the terms of the grant and will report directly to the Provost. The position will end on September 30, 2028, or until funding ceases.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in project management, within higher education student support
  • Bachelor's degree required. Master's preferred
  • Proven track record of successfully managing and completing federal, state, or non-profit grant-funded projects
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
  • Required Skills and Experience:

  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with clients, team members, and stakeholders.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Familiarity with non-profit legal regulations and compliance requirements (Grants.gov) and successfully submitting timely and accurate reports.
  • Ability to work independently and simultaneously on multiple projects, meet deadlines, and maintain a high level of accuracy in a fast-paced teamwork environment.
  • Flexibility to accommodate and adjust to changes in workload.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills.
  • Skilled in financial analysis, accounting procedures, and budget reconciliations.

  • This position's preferred location is on the Storm Lake campus. Willing to explore primarily telework with occasional travel to campus with the right candidate.
