General Description of the Position

Title III Grants Manager is responsible for the overall management of CAST grant-related functions. The Title III Grants Manager displays great leadership qualities, exceptional budgeting and monitoring skills, and superior organizational skills; all of which keep our college fiscally sound. Successful grants management serves to further CAST by streamlining grants administration, securing continuous funding, improving business opportunities through successful funding programs, and managing meaningful projects that support the public. The Title III Grants Manager is vital to day-to-day operations. This position is responsible for optimizing grant administration processes, overseeing funding, raising/matching funds, ensuring compliance with grant regulations, documenting payments and expenditures, formulating financial reports, preparing progress reports, and educating CAST staff on university financial policy. The Title III Grants Manager works closely with the Office of Research to identify new funding opportunities. This position also serves to reinforce relationships with the Offices of Research Development and Services and the Office of Sponsored Program to ensure that grant programs operate efficiently. The Title III Grants Manager reports to the Dean of the College of Agriculture, Science and Technology (CAST).
Essential Functions & Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Essential Functions
  1. Manage the overall CAST grants effort and ensure compliance with grant regulations.
  2. Optimize and advance CAST grants administration processes.
  3. Serve as a liaison between grant PIs and Finance & Administration to facilitate an efficient and productive workflow process.
  4. Assist grant PIs with navigating University business processes related to hiring and supervising staff, student employment, procurement, and purchase cards, including entering purchase requisitions, preparing personnel action forms and position requisitions, and tracking these transactions through Banner and DocuSign.
  5. Assist PIs with maintaining budget records. Reviewing and reconciling Banner 9 and ARGOS reports.
  6. Manage grant databases.
  7. Prepare and monitor budgets.
  8. Prepare financial reports.
  9. Document payments and expenditures.
Other Functions
Individuals in this position may be assigned one or more of the following tasks on a rotating or as-needed basis.
  1. Direct participation in grant writing through collaborating with PIs, grant writers, and/or coordinators.
  2. Educate staff on financial policy and grant requirements.
  3. Determine and create plans to enhance CAST grants administration procedure.
  4. Perform related duties as assigned by the Dean of the College.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  1. Proficient in the use of productivity and enterprise software. MS Office Suite. Banner 9, Argos, DocuSign, and Centre Suite preferred.
  2. Skilled in managing budgets and generating MS Excel spreadsheets.
  3. Excellent project management skills.
  4. Ability and willingness to learn new systems, techniques, and procedures.
  5. Ability to maintain neat and accurate records.
  6. Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Qualification Standards
  1. Education: Master's degree in business administration or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  2. A minimum of three years' experience in grants administration, preferably at a College or University.
