Summary:
The TBS Test Technician is responsible for performing a variety of technical and hands-on tasks related to tire testing, preparation, and inspection, both in the laboratory and field environments. This includes mounting, balancing, cutting, buffing, and shipping tires, as well as supporting engineers with data collection, entry, and reporting. The role requires proficiency in handling TBS (Tire & Balance System) and OTR (Off-the-Road) tires, operating specialized equipment, and maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Receive, process, order, and prepare TBS test tires for shipping
Organize, label, and store TBS tires in inventory systems
Mount and balance TBS tires using specialized mounting and balancing equipment
Prepare TBS field test tires by performing hot branding, weighing, and documenting tire information
Conduct final inspections of returned field test tires, including visual assessments, measurements, and photography
Operate laser profile and shearography machines to scan returned TBS test tires
Perform tire sectioning and analysis using tire saws and section scanners
Assist in cutting requested sections of OTR tires
Support the receiving, shipping, and scrapping processes for all OTR tires and tire sections
Operate forklifts and cranes to safely move TBS and OTR tires within the lab
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment; participate in safety training and compliance
Essential Knowledge and Skills:
Strong communication and teamwork skills; ability to follow detailed instructions
High level of technical competence and attention to detail
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Ability to operate and maintain specialized tire equipment and tools
Education and Experience Requirements:
High school diploma or GED
Previous experience with TBS tire mounting and handling
Forklift operation experience required; crane operation a plus
Experience in a laboratory, testing, or tire-related environment preferred
