Job Title: IT Network Engineer (Fortinet Specialist)

Location: Greer, SC/Greenville, SC

Job Type: Full-Time

Reports To: Director, Technology Services

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Network Engineer with specialized experience in Fortinet products to join our IT team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, managing, and troubleshooting network infrastructure with a primary focus on Fortinet technologies. In addition, the candidate will also be responsible for assisting with Tier 2 help desk requests, ensuring that network and other related issues are resolved promptly and effectively.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Fortinet Network Management:
  • Design, configure, and maintain network security devices, including FortiGate firewalls, FortiAnalyzer, FortiManager, and other Fortinet products.
  • Monitor and analyze network traffic to ensure optimal performance and security.
  • Implement and manage VPNs, intrusion prevention systems (IPS), and other security protocols using Fortinet solutions.
  • Stay updated on the latest Fortinet technologies and best practices to continuously improve network security.
  • Network Infrastructure Support:
    • Manage and support the overall network infrastructure, including routers, switches, wireless access points, and other networking devices.
    • Perform regular network assessments and audits to ensure compliance with security policies and standards.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve network-related issues to maintain system uptime and performance.
  • Tier 2 Help Desk Support:
    • Provide Tier 2 support for network-related help desk requests, including connectivity issues, VPN access, and security incidents.
    • Collaborate with Tier 1 support to escalate and resolve complex issues in a timely manner.
    • Document and track help desk requests using the company's ticketing system, ensuring that issues are resolved within the defined SLA.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of network configurations, changes, and procedures.
    • Generate reports on network performance, security incidents, and help desk metrics.
    • Provide training and support to IT staff on Fortinet products and network troubleshooting techniques.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work closely with other IT team members to support overall IT operations and initiatives.
    • Communicate effectively with non-technical stakeholders to explain network issues and solutions.
    • Participate in on-call rotation and respond to network emergencies outside of regular business hours.
    Qualifications:
    • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred.
    • Experience:
      • 3+ years of experience in network administration, with a focus on Fortinet products.
      • Proven experience in supporting and managing FortiGate firewalls and other Fortinet technologies.
      • Previous experience in a help desk or technical support role, with a strong understanding of Tier 2 support responsibilities.
    • Certifications: Fortinet NSE certifications (e.g., NSE 4 or higher) preferred.
    • Technical Skills:
      • Strong knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.).
      • Experience with VPNs, VLANs, and network segmentation.
      • Proficient in network monitoring and management tools.
      • Familiarity with ITIL processes and service management tools.
