Job Summary:

The Department of Nursing at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a Full time TH Assistant Director of Nursing, NS32 Labor & Delivery. The successful candidate will:

  • Be responsible for the 24/7 clinical and administrative operations for labor delivery, postpartum, and newborn nursery.
  • Demonstrate accountability for the operations of the department efficiently and effectively.
  • Use the analytical nursing process framework to create and maintain an environment that facilitates the delivery of high-quality, safe, and compassionate patient care in a healthy, satisfying work environment for staff.
  • Coordinate and integrate activities to operationalize the mission and vision of UHD and the nursing department in the patient care areas.
  • Demonstrate the ability to collaborate and be flexible to perform other related job duties as required and/or as business need warrants.

Required Qualifications:

  • New York State Registered Nurse License.
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing.
  • Master of Science Degree in Nursing or related field.
  • 3 to 5 years of active, relevant clinical experience.
  • Progressive leadership accomplishment in nursing.
  • Current BCLS certification.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in both clinical specialty areas and in nursing administration.
  • Prior management or leadership experience.

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday; 8:00am to 4:00pm (Full-Time)

Salary Range: Commensurate with experience and qualifications
