HIRING SALARY RANGE: $41,437 - $46,042 Hiring salary will be determined based on education, experience, equity, budget, and market considerations.

Description of Duties:
The Textbook Manager / Evening Library Assistant organizes, maintains, and distributes textbooks to students and instructors each semester. The position provides evening and some weekend coverage for the library, which involves planning and facilitating programming, supervising students, and providing circulation and reference services.
Textbook Manager
Manages textbooks (Budget management, records management, processing, inventory, storage and distribution, student supervision). Effectively maintains textbook database and records management for Residential, E-Books, and other equipment and oversees six different textbook distributions and returns throughout the year. Barcodes new books. Accurately tracks and maintains inventory in a database. Coordinates with the Business Office with textbook fines/refund spreadsheets. Audits all student textbook files. Coordinates surplus book management with buyers. May have to track all departmental textbook orders. Repairs books manually and coordinates with bindery. Collaborates with Department Deans and Registrar on needs versus textbook availability. Maintains organized textbook and supplies storage. Trains and supervises student assistants. Conducts daily check-in and check-outs of textbooks. Edits and updates all textbook information, i.e., titles, conditions, barcodes, pictures, copyright dates, prices, quantities, etc. May have to liaise between textbook vendors and departments for book deliveries. Constantly maintains the organization of all the storage rooms to accommodate course textbook needs. Annually reviews and updates textbook policies and creates distribution schedules in collaboration with library staff members. Serves as a general information hub and provides appropriate student support and assistance throughout the school year
Customer Service and Reference Support
Provides reference assistance and support to students, faculty, and staff. Answers reference questions using a variety of print and electronic resources. Provides advice and support to students, including interpreting the usefulness of reference materials for student projects, advises students on selecting and focusing topics for research papers, and guides students in developing effective search strategies. Advises students on citation methods and copyright issues and provides other support, as needed, to promote learning and research success.
Manages and supervises library space as the sole evening staff member. Provides input, as necessary, into developing reference guidelines and procedures. May research, evaluate, suggest, and select library materials in conjunction with other library staff to assist in maintaining and upgrading print and electronic reference and circulating resources and collections.
Library Programming Implementation and Technology Support
Creates, markets, and implements quality, engaging programming in collaboration with library staff and student library leaders. Records statistics for reference, instruction, and programming sessions. Monitors computer equipment used to access library information. Contacts IT support if service is needed for non-functional equipment. Regular, predictable, and punctual attendance is required. Other duties as required.

Physical Requirements
Job functions described in this position description. While performing duties for this job, the employee regularly exhibits digital dexterity when entering data into a computer, frequently sits for extended periods of time, and occasionally stands and walks.
Employee periodically reaches with hands or arms and stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls. Employee converses verbally or manually with others in person and by telephone. Vision demands include close, detailed vision when focusing on a computer screen. Employee periodically lifts or exerts force up to 25 pounds.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
High school diploma or equivalency and two years of experience in library services, office support, or related field; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Preferred:
Prefer education in Library, experience working in a Library setting, inventory control and material management; young adult supervision experience or combination of training and experience.
Eagerness to work with high school students; experience with research journals and inventory databases; strong research and writing background and/or library programming. The ability to work with students and faculty in a face to face or a virtual environment is necessary.

Vacation and Personal Leave: SHRA employees earn from 14 days to 26 days per year based on years of state service. Leave is earned monthly.
