About this Position

Territory Sales Representatives are the heart of Direct Supply Inc. in each geographic region. They are responsible for building and maintaining relationships with customers and growing our customer base and sales throughout the territory. The open territory covers Northwest Indiana and West Michigan. Although the posting is shown in Grand Rapids, Direct Supply is open to candidates located throughout the territory, including Holland, Elkhart, Kalamazoo, etc.


Role and Responsibilities

  • Identify and establish key account relationships within the assigned territory.
  • Develop new business as well as maintain and grow the current customer base.
  • Provide sample and product updates/demos to customers and prospects.
  • Preplan appointments when possible to ensure productivity and efficiency.
  • Coordinate and work diligently with Specifications Representative to ensure A & D product specifications are captured within our fabricator network.
  • Provide and maintain samples and updates for the area's interior designers, lumber yards, and kitchen and bath showrooms.
  • Follow up on leads and customer requests promptly.
  • Log customer's calls and project information in CRM system
  • Maintain current product and program knowledge - including industry and product trends.
  • Attend networking functions with local trade associations throughout the territory
  • Assist Sales Manager with territory market planning, development, and tracking
  • Assist with small territory deliveries when needed
  • Assist with strategic planning for the overall improvement and well-being of Direct Supply
  • Perform additional duties as required and assigned by Management

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Aligns with Direct Supply's Core Values
  • Excellent Verbal and Written Communication Skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Comfortable with technology: In-person and online presentations, Laptop, iPad, and iPhone
  • Able to work independently and carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
  • Able to keep information, samples, and sales aids organized
  • Prior experience with surface materials, cabinetry, and hardware required
  • Prior B2B sales experience required
  • Excellent driving record with valid Driver's License
  • Must be able to take direction, be punctual and reliable
  • Ability to travel between Michigan and Indiana
  • Education: High School diploma or GED required

Physical Requirements

  • Lift and carry products and samples up to 49 pounds
  • Safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and quantitative productivity standards
  • Able to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards
