The Department of Architecture at the Weitzman School of Design is inviting applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor of Architecture, with an anticipated start date of January or July 2026. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in teaching design studios, as well as demonstrated leadership potential, critical thinking skills in design, and a commitment to professional development. The ideal applicant will engage actively with contemporary issues in both teaching and research. The position involves teaching at undergraduate, graduate, and post-professional levels, with responsibilities including design studios and seminars related to architectural design. In addition to teaching excellence, candidates should be able to identify their specific areas of expertise within design and demonstrate a robust capacity for producing professional and scholarly work, as evidenced by a portfolio of projects, exhibitions, and/or published writings. Equally important are the applicant's plans for future practice, research, and publication. The Department seeks an individual who will contribute to both the academic community and the profession through innovative design thinking, sustained research, and meaningful contributions to the field of architecture.

The Department of Architecture in the University of Pennsylvania Stuart Weitzman School of Design invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in architectural design at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, beginning July 2026. We are seeking a dynamic candidate with a strong commitment to teaching and an evolving professional trajectory in architecture. The ideal applicant will possess a proven record of effective teaching, leadership potential, and the capacity for advanced design thinking, as well as a deep engagement with contemporary issues in architecture.

• Professional Growth Potential: Early-career achievements that suggest a trajectory toward becoming a leading design professional, with a dedication to advancing both personal practice and the broader field of architecture.


• Engagement with Contemporary Issues: An understanding of the latest design trends and challenges, with the ability to integrate these into both teaching and research activities.

The Department of Architecture at the University of Pennsylvania Stuart Weitzman School of Design offers architectural education at the undergraduate, professional, post-professional, and doctoral levels. Teaching responsibilities may include design studios and seminars at various levels, ranging from introductory to advanced courses in architectural design.

In addition to teaching excellence, candidates must demonstrate a strong record of professional and scholarly work. This may include a portfolio of projects, exhibitions, and published writings. Equally important are the applicant's plans for future research, practice, and publication, which should reflect a commitment to advancing the discipline of architecture.


Qualifications:

Minimum qualifications include a professionally accredited Master of Architecture degree or equivalent.

Review of applications will begin in February and will continue on a rolling basis until the position is filled. The position appointment is expected to begin on July 2026 or January 2026.
