11/01/2024.Position Summary:The Department of PoliticalScience and International Affairs at the University of Northern Coloradoinvites applications for an entry-level, tenure-track Assistant Professorposition in American politics with a preferred secondary expertise in ComparativePolitics. Job Duties:Successful candidates areexpected to offer courses in the American politics subfield such as (but notlimited to) Electoral Politics in theU.S, Power in America, Public Policy, American Political Development and ourSenior Seminar in American Politics. Specific teaching assignments will dependon the candidate's interests and expertise as well as departmental needs, butwe have particular interest in those able to teach classes on state and localpolitics, and political science methodology (broadly construed).
Faculty members are also expected to advise and mentor undergraduate students;demonstrate an active research agenda; and provide service to the department,college, university, and community. The normal teaching load forthis post is 3-3 and the typical overall workload for this position is (20: 20:60; research: service: teaching)
Minimum Qualifications:- Primary teaching and/or scholarly emphasis in American Politics
- Potential as a researcher
- Potential as a teacher of undergraduate students
- PhD in Political Science or related field by August 15th, 2026
Preferred Qualifications:- Potential to teach introductory methodology courses
- Potential to teach Comparative Politics classes as required
- Potential to teach classes on state and local politics
