LHH is recruiting a temporary litigation paralegal for a Chicago law firm. This is a 3-6 month assignment. On-site.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare drafts of pleadings, notices, and motions for filings in state and federal court
- Assist in the preparation of deposition notices and deposition materials
- Organize and maintain case files, including indexing and filing documents
- Coordinate with clients, witnesses, and opposing counsel for interviews and depositions
- Track and manage discovery, including document productions and e-discovery
- Manage deadlines and ensure timely filing of court documents, including e-filing
Qualifications:
- 2 or 4-year degree and paralegal certificate preferred; may substitute work experience for education level
- Minimum of 5 years of commercial litigation experience in a law firm setting (defense side)
- Strong knowledge of state courts and federal court rules and procedures
- MUST have experience with all aspects of pre-trial preparation and trial support, including trial support software (Trial Director or similar program)
- Proficiency in legal research tools, and document management and document review systems (Westlaw, iManage, and Nuix/fka Ringtail strongly preferred)
- Experience with document production and discovery
- Proficiency in case preparation from start to finish, and the understanding of a paralegal's role in the litigation life cycle
