Temporary Information Technology Assistant - Paid Internship

The State of Connecticut Judicial Branch is seeking a paid intern for a 12-month period for the Information Technology Division, Application Development and Support Unit, with a primary focus on Business Analysis and Testing. Efforts will be made to base the work schedule around the student's academic commitments.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
The selected candidate will have the primary responsibility to perform junior-level technical documentation and testing tasks. This role encompasses the creation of technical documentation, testing, and being able to thoroughly document technical bugs.
Technical Writing and Specification Documentation:
- Review project requirements and translate them into detailed technical specifications for developers.
- Create screen mockup designs for new features.
- Gather, analyze, and document business and functional requirements.
- Develop user stories, process flows, and system diagrams to support technical teams.
Testing and Bug Documentation:
- Contribute to the creation or enhancement of test plans and test case documentation.
- Identify, isolate, and document bugs clearly using bug tracking tools (eg, Azure DevOps).
- Provide detailed reproduction steps, expected vs. actual results, and screenshots or logs.
- Collaborate with developers and business analysts to clarify issues and assist in root cause analysis.
- Retest fixes and new features and update the status of task with adequate notes.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Experience with:
- Technical Writing: Candidates will demonstrate strong technical writing skills with the ability to create clear, concise, and well-structured documentation tailored to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Business Analysis: Ability to analyze business domain, evaluate strengths and weaknesses, and measure potential business value. Knowledge of business requirements and functional specifications. Ability to document business needs and determine development impact to current system processing. Knowledge of business processes.
- Software Testing: Understand manual and automated testing, testing methodologies (eg, unit testing, integration testing, regression testing), familiarity with test management tools, knowledge of Software Development Live Cycle (SDLC) and able to identify, document, and report software defects.
- Candidates should possess either relevant experience in information technology or be actively pursuing a degree in the field.
Successful candidates will receive $16.35 per hour plus sick time and will be potentially eligible for health benefits.
