Temporary Position Title:Temporary Assistant Director of Student Access Center
Temporary Position Summary:The Temporary Assistant Director of Student Access Center will assist the Director in providing leadership and administrative direction for the Access Center to ensure the needs and services of our students are met and will serve in the absence of the Director.

Temporary Essential Duties and Responsibilities :- Determines student eligibility for services based on documentation regarding classroom, housing, dining and campus life accommodations, in conjunction with College and regulatory requirements.
- Consults with students and third-party providers about reasonable accommodations on a case-by-case basis and make appropriate assessments regarding services needed.
- Processes registration/applications for all incoming students with disabilities to receive academic accommodations and services from multiple systems.
- Ensures and maintains all student information in appropriate college systems (electronic files), which includes data entry and scanning of documents into Banner and Medicat.
- Identifies appropriate accommodations for each student registered for accommodations and oversees the implementation of all services.
- Arranges for assistive technology, texts in alternative formats, and other aides as needed in order to provide individualized accommodations for students.
- Maintains student files by managing flow of new documents, tracking and updating checklists for all applicants and students.
- Performs quality control checks on data entry as needed to check files and/or database for data accuracy and completeness of files.
- Informs faculty of academic accommodations for each student in their class, compliance with legal responsibilities, as well as instructional, programmatic or curriculum modifications.
- Consults with faculty, administrators, and key campus departments (such as residential life and campus health services) regarding the additional needs and/or services for students.
- Supervises graduate interns.
- Assesses the effectiveness of SAC program services and activities.
- Reviews and revises office policies and procedures, as appropriate.
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge on issues in the field and interpret court/government agency rulings and interpretations affecting services for students.
- Advocates for students to faculty and administrators regarding matters such as: accommodations, priority seating, recordings, etc.
- Communicates information regarding office services to students and the campus community.
- Addresses complaints/grievances from students related to accommodation issues and identifies resolution, which may involve collaboration from Director
- Carries out all actions with knowledge of disability laws and implications for higher education including Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, Americans with Disabilities Act and Fair Housing Act.
- Maintains knowledge of assistive technology and applications.
- Coordinates exam administration with students and professors.
- Builds and maintains collaborative working relationships to ensure student's best interests are upheld.
- Monitors the medical, psychiatric, and psychological documentation required for students receiving accommodations.
- Assists with developing and executing training for faculty and staff on disability services and education.
- Assists in other areas of the department during peak times to ensure overall departmental success.
- Monitors compliance with state and federal laws as they relate to the work of the office.
- Researches and recommends purchases related to assistive technology.
- Serves on the Community of Practice Committee for Student Access Center.
- Produces reports as required.
- Availability for evening and weekend duties, as needed.
Required Qualifications:Master's degree in higher education administration, counseling, social work or a related field required.
A minimum of two years of directly related experience working with individuals with physical disabilities, chronic health disabilities, psychological and learning disorders including but not limited to mood, anxiety or autism spectrum disorders, learning disability/dyslexia, and Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, preferably in higher education.
This position requires knowledge of Section 504 of the Federal Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act and all applicable State and Federal Disability Statutes associated with disability services in higher education. A general awareness of current literature, legal cases in post-secondary education required. Must possess an understanding of disability laws and their implications for higher education and FERPA regulations.
Must possess the ability to interact with a variety of personalities when working with college students. Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written with the ability to write various reports and to interact and respond to students, parents, faculty/staff, and the general public in one-on-one settings, group and in delivering presentations. Ability to work independently and as a member of a team. Must possess strong organizational, follow-up and follow-through skills. The incumbent should be self-motivated, have high ethical standards, and be flexible in schedules and methods. Must also possess a proven ability to safeguard sensitive and confidential information. This position requires the ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex regulatory documentation, various reports, and legal documents.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have beginner skills using Microsoft Office Suite (Power Point, Word, and Excel) to produce correspondence, e-mails, reports, and maintain client records. May require intermediate to advanced skills in some applications and must be familiar with various discipline related software/databases. Must be able to conduct internet searches.
