In this role you will get to perform integrated, multidisciplinary assessments that assess survivability of critical U.S. Air Force mission systems, infrastructures, and assets. The Air Force Mission Assurance Assessment Team requires highly specialized technical, analytical, and investigative support services to develop and conduct comprehensive assessments of an Installation and/or Facility. This challenging and exciting work will provide you with the opportunity to travel CONUS and OCONUS to the most important Air Force systems and critical infrastructure to ensure the survivability of any threat or attack. This is an exciting opportunity to experience travelling to destinations around the world and protecting mission critical infrastructure. What You'll Be Doing: Reviews and assesses the telecommunications infrastructure that supports the installation protection programs; customer's missions and supporting facilities to include equipment and routing.
Identify all aspects of communications-related vulnerabilities, impacts of communications on mission execution capability, and provide recommendations to mitigate or eliminate identified vulnerabilities
Assess communications infrastructure that support installation voice, data, video, radio, electronic security, and industrial control systems/networks
Identify threats/hazards that could affect the mission's communications architecture and using this data to assess the vulnerability and risk to these assets
Perform single-point critical node analysis of an installation's telecommunications, other communications systems, and computer networks including supporting infrastructure (security, power, heating-ventilation-air conditioning, fuel, fire protection, etc.). Provide recommendations to remediate or mitigate system vulnerabilities due to terrorist, manmade, and natural incidents
Evaluate and make recommendations on secure and/or non-secure high-speed digital data transmission, government satellite services, high-frequency radio, long-haul military and commercial radio, telephone, voice frequency circuitry, wireless, facsimile, video, and computer network inter-switch trunks
Evaluate and make recommendations for DoD installations on achievable means of enhancing the communications networks and/or systems to ensure local distribution networks and supporting off-site commercial facilities have the capacity, survivability, reliability, and security to support the mission
Review Communication plans, Defense Continuity Plans, and other associated plans and provide feedback to improve the documents
Prepare Assessment Team Reports based upon vulnerabilities observed during the assessment
Conduct other assessments defined by the Subject Matter Expert Benchmark matrix What Required Skills You'll Bring: Required Skills You'll Bring: Possess minimum 5 years, or Bachelor's degree and 2 years, operational experience in the military, other Federal Government, or comparable civilian position in Cyberspace operations Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related technical field; operational experience can serve as a substitute for degree requirement
Possess a thorough understanding of the Department of Defense Information Networks (DoDIN)
Work experience as a network administrator, IT management/consulting, assessing IT, or installation of IT-related systems
In-depth knowledge of newest information technology threats
Knowledge of Information Assurance, Mission Assurance levels associated with DoD IT Systems
Understanding of the Cyber Protection Conditions
Knowledge of Cybersecurity practices and threats
Knowledge of the DoD Risk Management Framework
Ability to evaluate communications architecture and identify single points of failure
Knowledge of risk management concepts employed by DoD or Department of Homeland Security
Possess IAT Level II certification as defined and 8570.01-M, or ability to obtain certifications within 180 days of hire
Broad knowledge and working level operational experience with commonly used DoD data and voice networks and transmission systems
Extensive knowledge with configuration, operation, and management of the Defense Information Systems Network (DISN) and other DoD and Commercial terrestrial and satellite communications systems and networks
Broad experience in general military command and control operations and supporting DoD C4I systems including identifying critical mission systems, their vulnerabilities and the impact on the broader strategic, operational and tactical implications on higher DoD or National level missions
Demonstrate current knowledge of and familiarity with the following:
Fiber optic distribution systems
Optical transport networks
SONET/SDH, ATM, IP, and TDM protocols, equipment and networks
Encryptions systems
DISN, DSN, DRSN, DMS SIPRNet, NIPRNet, JWICS, DSCS, Milstar, AFSCN, GMD, GPS, cellular, Microwave, and various other DoD and commercial architectures and SATCOM systems, DISA
Understand how to conduct 1) Pre-Assessment Phase activities (e.g., Mission Analysis and Pre-Site Survey (PSS) work); 2) Assessment Phase activities to include onsite vulnerability and risk assessments; and 3) Post-Assessment Phase activities (e.g., Post Analysis, Report Writing, and MAJCOM follow-up, etc.).
Must have an Active Top Secret Clearance with SCI Eligibility
Must be able to travel up to 25% per year.
