Title: Telecommunications Network Engineer - Senior Security Clearance: Secret based on T-5 background check Job Location: On-Site (Fort Belvoir, VA, Richmond, VA, Tracey, CA, Battle Creek, MI, New Cumberland, PA, or Columbus, OH) Overview: This role is to serve as a Telecommunications Network Engineer (Senior Level) for a larger team that has the objective to support wired and wireless LAN functions by providing skills and expertise in telecom engineering and operational support of current and new technologies to the Local Area Network (LAN). This role will require this individual to provide tasks related to network upgrade design, implementation, support, and sustainment, network management, and network operation support. Key Responsibilities: Identify high level design requirements for the enterprise network backbone
Identify the detailed design requirements for the backbone to include server locations, user locations, projected traffic flows between devices
Design, implement, and sustain solutions necessary for a Network Upgrade, design, implementation, support, and sustainment.
Develop and perform testing requirements (e.g., features, applications, OS, redundancy, capacity)
Develop, implement, and monitor fail-over solutions
Implement, maintain, and utilize a lab environment for testing and training
Support networking monitoring tools
Define, document, and implement a plan for Network Monitoring and Fault Detection
Perform network monitoring and fault detection
Maintain network documentation
Implement Configuration Management
Install, configure, and maintain networking hardware and software for the enterprise network infrastructure
Troubleshoot, administer, configure, and maintain networking hardware, software, and appliances, as well as network protocols.
Perform problem diagnosis, data capture, analysis, and resolution of LAN issues
Required Qualifications: Must possess a BS degree in electrical, electronics, or systems engineering, with at least one (1) year of experience in that field. Alternate qualification: An Associate degree in electrical, electronics, or systems engineering with at least eight (8) years of experience, which four years must be related to telecommunications systems/network.
Must possess IT-II security clearance or have a current National Agency Check with Local Agency Check and Credit Check (NACLC) at time of proposal submission.
Must have 7 years network operations experience. Higher Level Education or Military service can be used in lieu of 2 years network operations experience.
Clearance: Secret
Certification Requirement:
Must have a Certified Wireless Network Administrator (CWNA) certification;
DoD Approved 8570 Baseline Certification: Category IAT-II; and At Least one (1) Computing Environment: BPIPA, CCDA, CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, CCSPA, or SCNA Required Experience Performing Following Tasks/ Responsibilities: Experienced in telecommunications network design and management.
Worked independently, or under only general direction, on requirements that are moderately complex to analyze, plan, program, and implement.
Experienced in analysis and design of voice networks, LAN and WAN data networks, wireless networks, and/or network management systems to support voice and data services.
Analyzed and developed telecommunications networks supporting a wide range of capabilities, including voice, data, video, and/or wireless services.
Developed designs and plans for installation and maintenance of telecommunications systems from project inception to conclusion.
Analyzed the problem and the characteristics of the information to be transported.
Experienced in defining the problem and develop system requirements and network specifications.
Experience coordinating with other information system professionals to ensure proper implementation of network services. In addition, in conjunction with functional users, developed alternative solutions and backup plans.
Experienced in managing the evaluation and cost estimation of voice and data WAN services from telecommunications carriers, designing access and backbone networks using carrier services, or in managing the analysis and design of wireless voice or data networks (using private radio facilities or commercial services).
Experienced in providing technical and administrative direction for personnel responsible for telecommunications network design, implementation, and operations tasks, including the review of work products for correctness, adherence to the design concept and to user standards and progress in accordance with schedules.
Experienced in making recommendations for approval of major network installations.
Experience with preparing milestone status reports, and deliveries/ presentations on network progress to colleagues, subordinates, and end user representatives.
