Job Summary: Selectek is seeking a Telecom Drafter to support fiber network infrastructure projects by transforming rough product designs into working CAD drawings. This role involves reviewing engineering drawings to ensure compliance with project specifications, collaborating with engineers and design teams, and assisting with document preparation for permitting and construction. The ideal candidate has 1+ years of OSP Fiber underground drafting experience (utility or civil drafting experience will be considered), proficiency in AutoCAD, and the ability to work both independently and within a team. Key Responsibilities: Convert initial rough sketches into precise CAD drawings for OSP Fiber network projects. Review engineering drawings and designs to ensure adherence to established specifications and industry standards. Identify and resolve discrepancies between original designs and final CAD models. Collaborate with engineers and other design professionals to optimize designs. Prepare permit drawings, construction plans, and as-built documentation. Maintain accurate records and documentation of completed drawings and revisions. Utilize QGIS or other GIS software (preferred) for mapping and design integration. Ensure project deliverables are completed on time and meet quality standards. Required Qualifications: 1+ years of OSP Fiber underground drafting experience (utility or civil drafting experience may be considered). Proficiency in AutoCAD (required). Strong understanding of OSP fiber design and underground infrastructure. Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow engineering specifications. Strong communication and problem-solving skills. Preferred Qualifications: Degree in CAD, GIS, or Civil Engineering (or related field). Experience with QGIS or other GIS-based software. Previous experience with underground fiber design. Work Environment & Benefits: Training: The first 6 months require in-office presence for onboarding and training. Hybrid Option: Once fully trained (6 months), employees can transition to a hybrid work model but must remain within the Greater Kansas City area for occasional office requirements. Casual Dress Code: Jeans and T-shirts are acceptable (no offensive or stained clothing). Overtime: Not expected, but paid at 1.5x the hourly rate if required. Growth & Reviews: Employees are eligible for a performance review and potential raise after one year of service, with time as a contractor counting towards this milestone. Location: Overland Park, KS (Local candidates only) Job Type: 6-Month Temp-to-Direct Pay Rate: $23.00 - $25.00/hr (may go up to $27/hr for strong experience) Work Schedule: Monday â€" Friday, flexible 8-hour shifts Remote Work: Hybrid option available after 6 months of training Sponsorship: Not available (US Citizens or Green Card holders only)
