TechOps Engineer (DevOps) - Sterling Trading Technologies
Sterling's TechOps Engineering team owns the automation and operational excellence behind our high-performance, distributed trading platform. You will design, build, and run the tooling that keeps our systems fast, observable, and resilient-partnering daily with development, support, and coverage groups to drive continual efficiency gains.
Core Responsibilities
- Automate & Operate Build CI/CD pipelines, release automation, and self-service host-build workflows that slash manual toil.
- Observe & Defend Advance system-wide monitoring, alerting, and incident-response playbooks for 24 7 production reliability.
- Engineer Middleware Specify, provision, and tune messaging layers (Kafka et al.) and other shared services powering our low-latency stack.
- Collaborate & Improve Review application code and configs to integrate telemetry, harden deployments, and streamline support hand-offs.
- Troubleshoot & Restore Serve as L2/L3 escalation for live incidents-diagnosing network, OS, container, and application issues in real time.
Must-Have Skills
- Linux mastery on bare-metal and cloud hosts.
- Distributed-systems fluency-networking, middleware, and full-stack ops in production; finance domain exposure ideal.
- Hands-on scripting Python, Bash, and SQL/MariaDB/MySQL; comfort automating with Docker/K8s or comparable orchestration.
- Kafka expertise-deployment, performance tuning, and fault analysis.
- Code-literate Able to read C /Python trading services to design hooks for monitoring and config management.
- Proven incident responder Seasoned in root-cause analysis and post-mortem culture.
