REPORT TO: Director, Department of Technology
DESCRIPTION: To support and maintain local area networks and wide area networks, wireless networks, servers, computer workstations, or other computer related systems or technologies.
QUALIFICATIONS: Eligible for Initial Temporary Authorization for Technology Systems Specialist, as defined in State Board Policy 5202.
CERTIFICATION/RENEWAL: - Hold a minimum of an associate's degree from an accredited institution of higher education, as defined in 126-136-4.5.
- Possess at minimum two valid Basic Level Technology Certifications or one valid Advanced Level Certification as approved by the WVDE.
- Receive the recommendation of the county superintendent.
- Completion of at least 15 clock hours annually of in-service credit offered or approved by the WVDE.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of Board policy on evaluating of professional personnel.
SUPERVISES: N/A
SUPPORT RELATIONSHIPS: Works cooperatively with state, district, RESA and school level staff to provide technology services and instruction.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 240 Days - Salary in accordance with established pay schedule
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES: - Three years experience with networking, hardware, software and mobile device management (MDM) systems (JAMF) preferred.
- Possesses knowledge of hardware and technical software operations for local area networks, servers and operating system software, computer workstations, MacBook's, iPads, peripherals and related educational technologies
- Knowledge and experience using JAMF MDM to manage, configure and deploy iPads, MacBooks, and Apple TVs in a 1:1 environment.
- Prior experience working in/with a school system (1:1 experience preferred)
- Ability to maintain accurate detailed records
- Ability to understand technical manuals and apply the methods to correct personal computer, iPad, MacBook, server, and LAN/WAN operational problems
- Ability to analyze test data and results

- Experience installing, troubleshooting, and managing Microsoft Windows Server 2016 Standard and Enterprise.
- Experience with troubleshooting and configuring Active Directory user profiles on file servers and workstations.
- Experience with configuring and troubleshooting CISCO and Extreme switches, PoE switches
- Ability to install, troubleshoot and manage a secure wireless network (Cisco and Extreme wireless access points, controllers)
- Ability to troubleshoot SmartBoard, projector and Smart TV issues.
- Ability to learn new hardware and software without direct instruction. Ability to create step-by-step training materials on new and existing hardware and software.
- Willingness to adapt to a flexible work schedule to accommodate installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of hardware, software and network.
- Already have or willingness to earn Technology System Specialist licensure and renew it annually, according to WVBE policy 5202.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: - Manage, configure, and deploy all iPads, MacBooks and Apple TVs using JAMF MDM.
- Help install, maintain, troubleshoot and support the school instructional technology servers.
- Setup and maintain backup system for school instructional servers and data.
- Manage users on school servers.
- Provide phone, email, remote and on-site technical support for school.
- Manage school wireless infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot SmartBoard and Smart TV issue.
- Install, troubleshoot, maintain and support the various state, district and school software applications and/or operating systems, including but not limited to: Windows 7/10; Mac OS, iOS, Apple Classroom, AB Tutor; Achieve 3000; Microsoft Office; iWork, iLife, Renaissance Learning's Accelerated Reader, Scholastic Read 180 Next Generation, Math 180, Math Inventory, Reading Inventory, System 44; SMART Notebook; State testing software.
- Assist school personnel with short and long range technology planning.
- Work closely with school, district, state and vendor personnel.
- Create and/or maintain accurate documentation and/or records of school level technology initiatives and incidents.
- Coordinate projects as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.
