Supervised by and/or Reports to: Coordinator of Information Technology
General Responsibilities: Provide technology support for all school-based administrative/instructional computer activities.

Technical Support - Provides technical support for the school building(s) assigned including:
- Provides installation, maintenance, service, and repair of computer equipment.
- Troubleshoots computer hardware, software, and peripheral system problems.
- Coordinates with support vendors for repair and replacement services of faulty/obsolete computer equipment and components.
- Sets up, installs, and tests new computer hardware and software applications.
- Designs, implements, and reviews preventative maintenance programs.
- Responds to service requests and provides customer support in-person and/or remotely via telephone, email, or other communication methods.
- Sets up, installs, and supports computer-based technologies utilized for student assessment and testing.
- Interacts with Information Technology staff to install, troubleshoot, repair, and provide reliable network infrastructure and services.
- Assist Information Technology staff in providing Active Directory accounts and email, monitors network-based services such as home folders and applications.
- Supports Instructional Technology Training Specialist assigned to the building(s) in providing professional development and training to staff.
- Develops understanding of staff training requirements.
- Prepares written documentation to assist staff with technology use.
Local School Affiliation - Attends all local school faculty meetings and makes oneself available to attend department meetings.
- Attends all technology committee meetings for the school building(s) assigned.
- Researches and recommends upgrades, replacements, and new purchases of computer technology for computer workstations, laptops, mobile devices, mobile labs, printers, servers, interactive presentation systems, etc.
Administrative Responsibilities - Develops and implements technology policies and procedures as defined in the MCPS School Board Regulations and Policies.
- Tracks all work in the IT ticketing system.
- Maintains a current inventory of all technology equipment.
- Assists with information management in the administrative areas of the school.
- Communicates changes in network design services with ITS Staff.
Staff Development - Communicates training needs of local building staff to the Instructional Technology Training Specialists.
- Provides staff with technical knowledge on how to perform basic tasks listed under the Virginia Department of Education Technology Standards for Instructional Personnel as listed in the MCPS Technology Plan.
- Provides assistance to laboratory teachers learning to manage users and network resources effectively.
- Performs other duties as requested.
Requisite Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: - Working knowledge of all installed instructional and administrative software.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Effective interpersonal skills for working with teachers, administration, and students.
- Knowledge and experience working with Windows and Apple platforms, and experience in the administration of standalone and networked hardware, software, and cabling.
- Knowledge of TCP/IP networking; including network addressing, switching, routing, DHCP, and 802.11 wireless networks.
- Serve as role model.
- Ability to work flexible hours, as required to support systems and applications.
Requisite Education and Experience: - Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree preferred in Computer Science or a related field.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience supporting computer hardware and applications.
- Industry-standard certifications preferred.
- Must possess a valid motor vehicle license with a good driving record.
Physical Requirements: Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle or feel objects and controls. Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment, such as, but not limited to: a personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine. Some climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, or repetitive motions required.
