SALARY SCHEDULE: Technology Support Specialist
SALARY RANGE: $16.50 - $30.91 (based on education & experience)

POSITION SCHEDULE: 12 Month/260 days

POSITION SUMMARY
To maintain and repair the technical needs and equipment of the District. Assists in the coordination of technological applications of the School District. Assists in the development, implementation and evaluation of a long-range plan
for the Technology Department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Builds, upgrades, installs and performs repairs to computer hardware, software, and/or peripheral equipment.
  • Installs cabling and repairs security equipment and key scans.
  • Recommends component specifications to the Technology Director.
  • Diagnoses and troubleshoots routers, switches, and hubs.
  • Installs and replaces/repairs networking and phone cables in the ceiling, walls and floors.
  • Install televisions and setup for cable and satellite.
  • Assists with telephony operations in the School District (includes set up and repairs of phones and intercoms).
  • Sets up equipment and troubleshoots issues as needed for work orders, including repairs to printers, scanners, projectors, Smartboards, network cables, PC setup and removal, card readers, and POS system
  • Sets up iPads and Chromebooks and assist in the management of these devices.
  • Ensures proper installation of cables, operating systems or appropriate software.
  • Develops, maintains, and periodically modifies images of all District computer groups.
  • Communicates effectively with staff and teachers to troubleshoot computer problems effectively via telephone and/or email.
  • Contributes to the Technology Department to promote proactive stance with regard to planning for facility remodels and additions.
  • Maintains District inventory of Technology equipment.
  • Travels to various School District buildings to perform job duties.
  • Trains new technology staff on all hardware applications.
  • Trains staff on new technology.
MARGINAL DUTIES
  • Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
  • Contributes to the decisions made by the District and building regarding budget, facilities, curriculum and personnel well-being.
  • Fosters professional development by attending seminars and workshops.
  • Performs additional tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as assigned by the Technology Director.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
  • Two-year College or technical degree preferred and 1+ years of experience preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A+ Certification preferred
  • Knowledge of Novell/Microsoft Windows Server is a plus

  • The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds.

  • This individual may be exposed to risk of electrical shock and potentially hazardous bodily fluids.
