Job Summary: Conducts forensic examinations and analysis of digital, electronic, and mobile device data, including hard drives, thumb drives, memory cards, cellular devices, and vehicles. Provides subject matter expertise and research and development to cyber based technologies including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and specialty data sets. Essential Functions: Supports active operations and provides the DOJ Agency with cutting edge solutions to the complex challenges in the cyber arena.
Assists with the development of policies and standard operating procedures.
Assists with the execution of highly complex digital forensics requiring the use of specialized technical equipment and software for the purpose of discovering and analyzing available data.
Provides training and shares subject matter expertise with DOJ Agency personnel.
Researches, reviews, interprets, evaluates, and integrates all-source intelligence data
Utilizes a variety of classified/unclassified sources to produce products and assessments pertaining to violations of United States criminal code, violations of certain state laws and transnational organized crime
Collaborates with other team members and works independently to produce quality oral and written analytical findings
Produces high-quality papers, presentations, recommendations, and findings for senior and mid-level law enforcement officials
Implements and utilizes best practices, proper tradecraft and determines relevancy of information disseminated against the standards set forth by the organization
Maintains partnerships and collaborates with peers in law enforcement agencies involved in strategic, tactical, and technical operations
Provides analysis to enable identifying and providing targeting recommendations for operational deployment
Utilizes target development databases, analyzes social and telecommunications networks and exploits high priority targets
Recognizes interagency restrictions and sensitivities on sharing certain types of data, as well as the steps necessary amongst the interagency to share said data
Provides other analytical or technical services, as required
Other duties as assigned
Knowledge Skills and Experience: Requires in-depth knowledge of and direct experience with digital forensic mechanisms to include evidence recovery, data extractions, and forensic data analysis.
Experience and skills working with federal, state and local law enforcement agencies in areas such as information/intelligence sharing policies, counter-drug enforcement, security, and disrupting and degrading the threats posed by, including, but not limited to: federal crimes, state/local violent crime and transnational organized crime.
Requires in-depth knowledge of and direct experience with all-source analysis, processes, tools, procedures and techniques.
Requires excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technology into layman terms
Experience demonstrating self-motivation, creativity, teamwork, and schedule management
Experience using intelligence analysis tools and databases
Experience developing excellent internal and external professional networks
Experience writing and developing comprehensive technical assessments, information papers, and presentations
Experience using the following Tools/Databases: Analyst Notebook, Google Earth, and PENLINK
Understands the distinct types of legal process and their uses (i.e., Subpoena, Court Orders, Search Warrants) and specifically what can be obtained in each one
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to work in a dynamic environment and non-standard hours when needed
Ability to travel CONUS and OCONUS for short TDY assignments
Active Top Secret clearance, or ability to obtain and maintain.
Provides other analytical or technical services, as required
Preferred Qualifications: Prior Law Enforcement
Report writing, chain of custody, evidence, testifying in legal proceedings
