Technology Coordinator Job Description

POSITION TITLE: Techonology Coordinator

Department: Catholic Schools

Grade: K-8

Supervisor: Principal or Designee

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

Under the supervision of the Principal, the Technology Coordinator is a person of faith who strives to achieve goals of Catholic Education; maintains detailed and accurate records as required by the school; establishes positive school-community relationships; continued professional development to remain current with religious and professional certifications when necessary; performs any other job-related tasks deemed necessary and/or assigned by the Principal.

Essential Functions:

Technology Coordinator
  • Seek to attain the objectives of Catholic education by demonstrating familiarity with the Catholic philosophy of education, endorsing Gospel principles and Catholic moral teachings, adhering to the doctrinal tenets of the Catholic Church, and equipping students to navigate life in contemporary Church and society.
  • Purchases, installs, images, maintains, and monitors all school/parish devices for students and staff. Manages student security systems.
  • Helps with planning, developing, maintaining, and operating software and hardware. Troubleshoots, sets up, configures, and installs new technology. Ensures network security to prevent viruses, hacking, and other threats under the school supervision.
  • Manages the local area network (LAN) and oversees the acquisition of new technology and equipment while tracking inventory. Maintains detailed records on software, hardware, and network systems including configuration, installation, warranties, licenses, and allocations. Adheres to relevant Diocesan, state, local, and federal laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Oversee the management and enhancement of essential systems and platforms, including workstation operating systems, Office suite, network printing, backup administration, wireless networks, hardware diagnostics, virus removal, group policy settings, Internet connectivity, and other relevant tasks in the school/parish.
  • Collaborates with administrators and fellow technology specialists to develop and implement a long-term technology budget plan spanning 3, 5, and 10 years. Ensures a dependable environment for staff, students, and families to effectively utilize computer systems and software. Upholds the confidentiality and integrity of electronic records. Generate a monthly report specifying system metrics and/or known issues.
  • Assists the faculty/parish staff in becoming effective information users and helps to structure an environment that allows for access to multiple resources and tools; provides leadership and expertise to the classroom teacher to use a variety of resources in their job; install and troubleshoot technology, prepares faculty staff to use electronic resources; periodically consults with administration and faculty to insure the availability of technological resources in each subject area; manages instruction and practice in the use of new technology as it is implemented; maintains technology help pages/resources for staff and students.
  • Stays current with technological advancements; continually updates the information available; oversees and updates the technology, discarding outdated materials and staying current with equipment; keeps abreast of new trends and improvements in technological advancements through research, reading professional journals, and attendance at professional meetings; works closely with a technology committee. Occasional after-hours communication may occur for urgent matters, with an expectation of timely acknowledgment. Performs any other job-related tasks deemed necessary and/or assigned by the principal.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
  • Understanding of the fundamental teachings of the Catholic Church
  • Proficiency in computer science, computer education, and related technologies
  • Capable of teaching faculty, staff, and students in an educational environment
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to collaborate well with others in the school community
  • Competence in managing multiple tasks at once and handling emergencies
  • Ability to inspire and motivate others for new learning
  • Skilled in organizing and presenting information in a clear and accessible manner
  • Proficient in using technology relevant to the job
  • Strong critical thinking and planning abilities
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION
  • Preference given to Catholic candidates.
    • Must be willing to make a public Profession of Faith if Catholic and if non - Catholic willing to support Catholic teachings and philosophy.
  • Must hold a Bachelor's degree in computer Science or related field or experience in technology-related position
  • Safe Environment Training and signed the Code of Conduct.
  • Fingerprint clearance completed.
