Overview Nakupuna Consulting is seeking a motivated and experienced Technical Writer to support the Infrastructure Services Transport and Communication (ISTC) Base Area Network (BAN) Modernization project in support of the U.S. Marine Corps (USMC). This individual will play a critical role in documenting and developing technical deliverables aligned to the 31 required delivery line items of the contract. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical writing and editorial skills, project documentation experience, and a deep understanding of structured writing approaches such as those in the AP Stylebook or Chicago Manual of Style. This position supports both project execution and corporate business development activities with a focus on high-quality documentation, training plans, and technical content consistency across all stakeholders. Responsibilities The following reflects management's definition of essential functions for this job but does not restrict additional duties that may be assigned. Project Focused Responsibilities: Develop, write, and maintain high-quality documentation for the 31 contractual deliverables (e.g., Engineering Design Plans, Verification Site Survey Reports, System Acceptance Test Plans, Cutover Plans, Technical Data Packages, Training Plans, SOPs, and Cybersecurity documentation). Collaborate with project managers, engineers, cybersecurity analysts, and network architects to gather inputs and translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and readable documentation. Format and maintain project documents using AP Stylebook or Chicago Manual of Style for consistency and professionalism. Assist in the planning and coordination of New Equipment Training (NET) and maintain alignment with NAVMC 1553.1 and MIL-PRF-29612 standards. Develop and track training materials, technical manuals, and user guides related to hardware/software installations and operations. Support the creation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), system security plans, installation guides, and QA/QC documentation tied to required 3 Phase lifecycle execution. Own documentation review cycles with stakeholders and ensure timely updates to align with evolving engineering and fielding efforts. Attend and document meetings such as Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs), Test Readiness Reviews (TRRs), and Project Status Reviews (PSRs). Maintain document control and version history in alignment with the Project Management Plan and Configuration Management Plan. Business Development Focused Responsibilities: Assist with drafting technical content for white papers, responses to RFIs, and proposals related to network modernization and infrastructure support. Help refine and standardize templates used in new project kickoffs and business capture efforts. Support Senior Leadership by creating documentation that communicates Nakupuna's technical capabilities and past performance. Participate in internal knowledge-sharing initiatives and contribute to improving company-wide technical documentation practices. Maintain a library of reusable content, graphics, and templates that support future proposal development. Qualifications Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Technical Writing, Engineering, or a related field. Minimum of 3 years of experience in technical writing or documentation roles, preferably supporting DoD or federal IT programs. Required Skills and Experience: Demonstrated experience authoring technical documents and training materials for network infrastructure, cybersecurity, or telecommunications systems. Familiarity with large-scale modernization efforts and documentation required for Engineering, Furnishing, Installing, Securing, and Testing (EFIST). Strong knowledge of AP Stylebook or Chicago Manual of Style. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio). Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team in fast-paced environments. Ability to interpret complex technical information and distill it for technical and non-technical audiences. Experience supporting government contracts, especially within the USMC or Navy IT enterprise environment, is highly desired. Clearance: Must be U.S. Citizen and be able to obtain a security clearance or currently hold a clearance.
