The role:
On behalf of our client, we are seeking a Technical Team Lead - Showroom & Service who will play a key role in supporting sales efforts by ensuring high-quality, timely machinery demonstrations for customers at our Duluth, GA location. This is a customer-facing position where the successful candidate will coordinate closely with the Sales team to showcase classical woodworking machinery. The role also includes providing technical phone support and occasional fieldwork for installations and repairs. A general understanding of woodworking production processes and industry practices is essential for success.
This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced Field Service Technician seeking a more stable, in-office/showroom-based role, while still engaging directly with customers and machines.
The candidate:
The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical expert with a strong mechanical background and a deep understanding of woodworking machinery. They are customer-focused, communicative, and thrive in both a collaborative office/showroom setting and the occasional field service environment. This role is well-suited for a seasoned Field Service Technician looking to reduce time in the field while staying close to the technology and customer interaction.
Responsibilities:
- Lead technical machinery demonstrations in collaboration with the Sales team, ensuring equipment is showroom-ready and presentations are professional and informative.
- Act as the primary technical point of contact for customer visits, clearly communicating machine features, functions, and answering in-depth questions.
- Provide first-line phone support to troubleshoot machinery issues, delivering timely and effective solutions to maximize customer satisfaction.
- Coordinate field service when remote support cannot resolve the issue.
- Occasionally travel for installations, repairs, and on-site customer support as needed.
- Maintain a clean, professional showroom and support Sales in the scheduling and execution of demonstrations.
Professional background:
- 7+ years of experience in machinery installation, service, and repair-preferably in woodworking or industrial machinery.
- Strong hands-on knowledge of equipment such as circular saws, planers, routers, sanders, and spindle moulders
- Proven ability to explain technical concepts to both expert and non-technical audiences.
- Excellent communication skills and a strong customer-service mindset.
- Technical diploma or degree in mechanics, electronics, or a related field.
- Must be based within commutable distance of Duluth, GA, or willing to relocate (relocation assistance may be offered).
- Willing to work primarily from the Duluth showroom with some domestic travel.
