Technical Support Specialist (Microsoft 365 Administrator) - Healthcare IT

Location: North Chesterfield

Hours: 8:00AM - 5:00PM Monday - Friday

Department: Information Technology

Reports To: Director of Information Technology

Job Summary:

We are seeking a reliable and experienced Technical Support Specialist with a strong background in Microsoft 365 administration and mobile device deployment to support our healthcare operations. This role is crucial in maintaining secure, compliant, and efficient IT services that enable clinical and administrative staff to deliver high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 technical support for desktops, laptops, mobile devices (iOS/Android), and peripheral hardware.
  • Administer and maintain Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams, with a focus on secure healthcare collaboration.
  • Deploy, configure, and manage mobile devices using Microsoft Intune or other MDM platforms, ensuring compliance with healthcare security policies.
  • Create and manage user accounts, permissions, licenses, and mailboxes in Microsoft 365 with HIPAA-compliant access control.
  • Support mobile access to EHR/EMR systems and ensure secure configurations for on-the-go clinical staff.
  • Monitor and respond to system alerts and service requests for Microsoft 365 and mobile device issues.
  • Assist with onboarding/offboarding processes, including secure provisioning and decommissioning of mobile and desktop devices.
  • Implement and manage endpoint security policies, MFA, and device encryption protocols.
  • Develop and maintain IT documentation, training materials, and SOPs for staff use of mobile and Microsoft 365 tools.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with HIPAA, HITECH, and organizational data protection standards.
Qualifications:
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Health Information Technology, or related field.
  • 2+ years of IT support experience, including Microsoft 365 administration and mobile device deployment in a healthcare or HIPAA-regulated setting.
  • Experience with MDM platforms (e.g., Microsoft Intune, VMware Workspace ONE, or Jamf) for managing iOS and Android devices.
  • Familiarity with EHR/EMR systems and mobile app integration for healthcare environments.
  • Solid knowledge of Windows OS, Office applications, Active Directory, and cloud services.
  • Understanding of device security, encryption, remote wipe, and compliance monitoring tools.
  • Certifications such as Microsoft 365 Certified: Endpoint Administrator, CompTIA Healthcare IT Technician, or equivalent are a plus.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills, with a service-oriented mindset.
