Job Description: Provide optimum design solutions satisfying requirements for maximum inherent safety, performance in terms of weight and durability, and minimum cost of production and ownership. Be responsible for multi-disciplinary design changes across all platforms in current production. Produce high quality designs ready for manufacturing, on time, and at the right cost by: maintaining type design definition of an aircraft by producing the form, fit, and function documentation; engaging various engineering, manufacturing, and product support teams to complete designs; participating in design reviews; preparing engineering reports and presentations; participating in aircraft build support; interacting with suppliers and preparing technical coordination memos; and by documenting, tracking, and managing design projects of various magnitudes using online knowledgebases and tracking tools. Work on engineering projects containing critical problems, the solution of which requires major technological advances and extensive related development. Be responsible for an entire engineering project of major complexity within an established scope. Make technical decisions and recommendations that are recognized as authoritative and have an important impact on extensive engineering activities. Apply advanced technical principals, theories, and concepts based on broad expertise or unique specialized knowledge. Lead the development of innovative principles and ideas. Act independently to determine improved methods and/or procedures to optimize technical product, cost, and schedule requirements. Work under consultive direction. Use independent judgment to accomplish objectives. Develop standards and guides for diverse engineering activities. Conceive and plan investigations of broad areas of importance for which engineering precedents are lacking in areas critical to the program. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements: Bachelors degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Automotive Engineering or a related engineering field required. Thirteen years of experience in job offered or related position required, including any experience with: master structures and mech system design criteria including design loads and durability (fatigue and corrosion); master design and manufacturing processes involved for both metallic and composite parts with a focus on design for manufacturing and assembly (DMFA); 3D Model Based Definition (3D MBD); the application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) for details and assemblies; managing projects of significant scope including work planning and managing of tasks involving design, certification, release, and presentations to various stakeholders; and with hands-on aircraft experience. In lieu of a Bachelors degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Automotive Engineering or a related engineering field, the Employer will accept a Masters degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Automotive Engineering or a related engineering field and eleven years of the above-listed experience or a Ph.D. in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Automotive Engineering or a related engineering field and nine years of the above-listed experience.
