Technical Project Manager Location: DMV area Required: US Citizen/ Permanent Resident Position Description:
The Technical Project Manager manages the non-functional technical deliverables of the project on a day-to-day basis.
Responsibilities:
- Identifying issues and risks, and recommending mitigation strategies.
- Facilitating State agency and Contractor discussions/meetings.
- Ensuring performance is within scope, requirements, and delivered on time and within budget.
- Identifying critical paths, tasks, dates, testing, and acceptance criteria.
- Forming the strategy and roadmap for operating systems platform and architecture.
- Influencing business and development teams on future architecture.
- Working with IT and business teams for technology impacts across the enterprise and formulating strategy.
- Providing solutions to improve efficiency (e.g., reducing costs while maintaining/improving performance).
- Mentoring architects, developers, and analysts in industry best practices, procedures, and concepts.
- Monitoring issues and providing resolutions for up-to-date status reports.
- Demonstrating excellent writing and oral communication skills.
Requirements Education: - Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or a related discipline.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from PMI.
- Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) certification.
Experience: - General Experience: At least five (5) years of experience in project management.
- Specialized Experience:
- At least five (5) years of experience in managing IT-related projects. 14
- Leadership role in at least three (3) successful projects delivered on time and within budget, including a project similar in size to the State of Maryland enterprise-wide implementation.
- At least five (5) years of experience in designing Enterprise Architecture (Infrastructure, Technology, Application) for integrated applications in an organization of equal or greater size.
- At least three (3) years of experience managing projects with an organizational change management component involving stakeholder groups across the organization.
- At least five (5) years of experience using PMI's Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBoK) methodologies and artifacts.
