We have an exciting opportunity for a Technical Project Manager to join our client in Gourock for a 12-month fixed-term contract.

As a Technical Project Manager, you will support the delivery of excellent project management for all project work assigned to the Standards and Performance team related to vessel improvements, modifications, and upgrades.

THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT
  • Hold an unlimited Class 1 or 2 Marine Engineers Certificate, equivalent Naval Architecture Qualification, Electrical / Mechanical Engineering HND, or an APM Project Management qualification with extensive marine experience.
  • Experience of leading projects in a similar role.
  • Demonstrate high competence in all aspects of project management, including scoping, managing, and implementing small to medium-scale projects.
  • Proven experience with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collate and report effective project information.
  • Knowledge of project processes, practices, and tools, with an understanding of the full project lifecycle. (Desirable)
  • Experience in commercial ship operations and management, sea-going Marine (Deck) or Engineering background is advantageous. (Desirable)
  • Experience with quality management systems, processes, and procedures. (Desirable)
JOB DESCRIPTION
  • Lead and manage project delivery on time, within budget, and with high quality, following the vessel improvement process.
  • Attend ships prior to and during installation and commissioning, working with stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery and closure.
  • Manage project budgets, ensuring expenditures are forecasted and controlled within limits, and produce required reports.
  • Carry out detailed project planning, establishing budgets, controlling costs, supervising suppliers and contractors to ensure equipment installation and commissioning meet specifications.
  • Develop project specifications, plans, budgets, and oversee procurement, delivery, and contractor management, ensuring quality and successful testing and commissioning.
  • Manage Change Processes to plan and deliver project work effectively.
  • Respond to project-related queries, investigations, and incidents.
  • Act as liaison between the company, contractors, Classification Society, and Flag State.
  • Coordinate with Chief Engineers, crews, and Superintendents regarding onboard changes, approvals, and updates.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance and Procurement teams to manage assets and contracts.
  • Support technical reviews of project work and approve delivery plans and designs.
  • Procure subcontractors and parts, balancing cost and quality.
  • Participate in and chair project meetings as directed.
  • Support continuous improvement in project management processes, sharing lessons learned.
