Description

We're seeking a dynamic Technical Product Manager to drive both the strategic direction of our products and the successful execution of cross-functional projects. Unlike a typical Product Management position, this hybrid role requires a balance of visionary product thinking and detail-oriented project execution. You'll collaborate with stakeholders across product development, operations, design, marketing, and sales to ensure product initiatives are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with market needs. Candidates with a technical product development background, such as engineering or project management, looking to expand their business acumen are a great fit for this role.

HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Demonstrate the Core Values of Comfort Research in daily actions, execution of tasks, and interactions with others.
  • Collaborate with product development, sales, and marketing to define and maintain the product roadmap.
  • Conduct market research and gather customer insights to inform product decisions.
  • Define product requirements and user stories with clear acceptance criteria.
  • Prioritize product features and enhancements based on business value, feasibility, and customer needs.
  • Partner with design and product development to ensure products meet both aesthetic and functional standards.
  • Monitor product performance using analytics, customer feedback, and key metrics to inform continuous improvement.
  • Lead end-to-end project management for product development initiatives, from concept through production and market release.
  • Lead project planning sessions, define scope, and set milestones to ensure timely delivery.
  • Create detailed project plans and timelines, ensuring alignment with product development cycles.
  • Manage cross-functional teams, ensuring clear communication and coordination throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to keep projects on track.
  • Provide regular project updates to stakeholders, ensuring transparency on progress, issues, and dependencies.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet quality standards.

This position is a hybrid role, requiring 3 days per week on-site at our office located at 1719 Elizabeth Ave NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49504. The remaining workdays can be completed remotely, providing a flexible balance between in-office collaboration and remote work convenience. Candidates should be within commuting distance of our Grand Rapids location.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in product development, product management, or project management.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with project management tools (e.g., Smartsheet, Asana, Monday) and product analysis software (i.e. Excel).
  • Experience in consumer products, furniture, or manufacturing industries is preferred.
  • Knowledge of fabrics, textiles, and sewing production processes is preferred
  • PMP or similar project management certification is preferred.
  • Experience leading a team and/or managing people a plus.
