Job Description Summary AAM is searching for a Technical Manager - Controls to join our team. This position will be based out of our Advanced Technical Development Center, located in Detroit, MI.
Join the rapidly growing team of motivated software controls engineers developing vehicle and device level controls for driveline systems in an ASPICE compliant environment. Projects are highly complex and original, requiring strategic direction, cross-disciplinary integration, and ingenuity of approach.
Job Description - Lead the development and validation of control algorithms and diagnostics to meet vehicle performance and customer requirements.
- Serve as the technical lead for control systems on assigned programs and act as AAM's global expert in vehicle dynamics or device controls.
- Define control module architecture and develop algorithms in MATLAB/Simulink and embedded C environments for motors, actuators, and vehicle dynamics.
- Collaborate with electronics and software teams to align hardware and low-level software with control requirements.
- Conduct in-vehicle and bench testing, analyze performance data, and calibrate parameters to meet targets.
- Utilize simulation tools such as CARSim and Simscape for plant modeling and algorithm validation.
- Develop and maintain software/functional architecture, test procedures, and control system design standards.
- Expert in control algorithm development and Autocode generation using MATLAB/Simulink.
- Advanced proficiency with CANape, CANoe, and IBM Rational Toolset.
- Demonstrated expertise in control systems theory and real-world application.
- All other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Education Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 10+ years of experience in automotive control system or Master's degree with 7+ years of experience in automotive control systems.
5+ years of experience in developing controls algorithms and Autocode Generation in Matlab/Simulink environment.
5+ years of experience in communication tools such as CANape and CANoe.
