Duties The selectee will serve as a Technical Equipment and Fleet Specialist in the Office of Strategic Intelligence and Information, Protective Intelligence and Assessment Division. Typical work assignments include: Analyzing the vehicle maintenance program and recommending changes as appropriate to improve cost and operational effectiveness. Scrutinizing vehicle repair estimates and resolving and/or negotiating resolution. Analyzing equipment requirement trends to plan and recommend actions to facilitate maximum utilization of government property. Providing technical advice and assistance to division staff on all matters associated with the management and operation of government owned/leased vehicles for the division. Planning and controlling the receipt, distribution, disposal and accountability of all technical equipment, components and materials. Managing and coordinating the accountability of sensitive equipment for the division initial requisition and signature approval. Scheduling maintenance on inoperable or malfunctioning equipment and ensuring that unique contractual arrangements are followed. Maintaining and updating the division's technical equipment requests on a daily basis ensuring equipment has been sent to designated locations on the official requests and updating the applicable electronic systems of record for the transfer/receipt of property. This Technical Equipment and Fleet Specialist position starts at a salary of $101,401.00, GS -12 step 1, with potential to $131,826.00 GS-12 step 10. OTHER REQUIREMENTS (Physical Demands): May be required to work long hours in support of the property management and/or the vehicle fleet program. May be required to lift and carry boxes alone and with the aid of others. Considerable outdoor work is required to manage the specialized vehicle fleet program. NOTE: The person selected for this position may be subject to a one-year probationary period. Qualifications You qualify for the GS-12 level (starting salary $101,401.00) if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level performing duties such as: Tracking the status (i.e., acquisition, registration, distribution, maintenance, inspection, disposal) of vehicles and/or equipment to support the organizational mission; Evaluating the effectiveness and efficiency of equipment and/or vehicle fleet inventory management systems to optimize program resource management; and Providing advice and assistance to staff regarding purchase/maintenance of equipment and vehicles. Time-in-Grade Requirements: Under competitive merit promotion procedures, any individual who is currently holding, or who has held within the previous 52 weeks, a General Schedule position under a non-temporary appointment in the competitive or excepted service, must meet "time-in-grade" requirements (have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade of the grade for which you are applying). Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to current competitive service employees applying for a Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
