CTG is seeking to fill a Technical Engineer IV opening for our client in Buffalo, NY.

Location: Buffalo, NY

Duration: 12 months

Pay : $52/hr to $85/hr Based on Experience

Overview:

Serves as a specialist in a group of technologies and services supported within technology. This role focuses on designing, implementing, and optimizing the organization's SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) infrastructure to enhance cybersecurity operations.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design and architecture of the bank's SIEM infrastructure, ensuring its effectiveness, scalability, and compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Implement, configure, and optimize SIEM solutions to collect, correlate, and analyze security event data from network devices, servers, applications, and endpoints.
  • Develop and maintain SIEM use cases, correlation rules, alerts, and reports to identify and prioritize security incidents and potential threats.
  • Collaborate with Cybersecurity and Security Engineering teams to investigate and resolve complex security incidents, conduct root cause analysis, and recommend remediation actions.
  • Stay updated with the latest security threats, vulnerabilities, and industry trends, proactively assessing their potential impact on the bank's SIEM infrastructure.
  • Lead SIEM-related projects, including system upgrades, enhancements, and integration with other security tools and technologies.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior SIEM engineers, promoting knowledge sharing and skill development within the team.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders, including IT operations, compliance, and risk management, to align security posture with industry standards and regulations.
  • Participate in incident response exercises, tabletop simulations, and security-related drills to strengthen the bank's response capabilities.
  • Regularly interact with business partners of varying management levels to ensure clarity of technical requirements and business needs.
  • Coordinate vendor interactions and/or vendor resources as needed.
  • Mentor and coach less experienced engineers, technicians, and integrators.
  • Review documentation, proposals, and changes proposed by junior staff.
  • Continuously expand knowledge and understanding of Financial Services trends, practices, and technologies.
  • Follow and promote industry best practices, standards, and procedures.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of the Bank's applications, systems, and development environments.
  • Ensure compliance with risk and regulatory standards, policies, and controls in accordance with the company's Risk Appetite.
  • Promote an inclusive environment that supports diversity and reflects the company's brand values.
  • Maintain internal control standards and address audit findings as applicable.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Scope of Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for infrastructure architecture and design, research and development, technology standards and policies, and thorough analysis of user requirements.
  • Involves unit testing, system integration, and user acceptance testing for SIEM solutions.
  • Supports ongoing efforts to enhance and optimize the bank's security monitoring infrastructure.
Supervisory/Managerial Responsibilities:
  • Provides technical leadership and guidance to junior engineers.
  • Mentors and coaches less experienced team members.
  • Oversees technical aspects of SIEM projects and implementations.
Education and Experience Required:
  • Combined minimum of 8 years of higher education and/or work experience in systems design, management, and architecture.
  • Strong understanding of the system development lifecycle, infrastructure lifecycle, IT Service Management, and systems design.
  • Required Skills:
  • Senior Splunk Engineering Experience
  • Splunk SIEM Design and Architecture
  • Data Modeling and Parsing
Education and Experience Preferred:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
  • Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in a technical engineering role involving infrastructure design, data management, and system development.
  • Strong ability to translate complex business and functional requirements into structured, high-quality implementations.
  • Advanced technical, analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated expertise in industry and vendor technologies.
  • Experience gathering and documenting system specifications and requirements.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong facilitation skills for gathering and reviewing requirements from diverse stakeholders.
  • Understanding of how people, processes, and technology interact within an organization to create feasible solutions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective influencing skills.
  • Process-oriented and logical thinker.
  • Strong knowledge of server/client and virtual technologies.
  • Ability to complete complex tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Adaptable, quick learner in a fast-paced environment.
