ManTech seeks a motivated, customer-oriented Technical Editor to join our team supporting the NAVSEA/NSWCCD in Bethesda, MD. This is an on-site position. In this role, you will be responsible for editing and providing written support for a variety of technical reports and white papers for a naval submarine program at Carderock. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in technical editing, working closely with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to improve clarity, organization, and conciseness of complex documents. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Collaborate with a team of editors to support the development of technical reports and white papers for a naval submarine program within NAVSEA.
Revise technical documents based on feedback from Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to improve narrative structure, clarity, and conciseness.
Guide and track written products through the entire lifecycle, which includes populating templates, preparing drafts, reviewing SME feedback, and compiling final documents.
Assist with organizing and archiving documentation for the program's library and ensuring proper version control of files.
Assist with updating and maintaining templates for written products to ensure consistency across documents.
Continuously evaluate reporting processes for efficiency and identify opportunities for improvement.
Compile, update, and maintain style guides to ensure consistency in formatting, grammar, and style across all program documents. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) with 5+ years of relevant experience in technical editing
5+ years of experience providing editing support to technical/engineering SMEs, especially on sensitive programs and topics related to DoD or military programs
5+ years of experience writing, editing, and revising highly technical and scientific content for diverse audiences Preferred Qualifications: Excellent command of spelling, grammar, and punctuation, with exceptional attention to detail and consistency.
Extensive experience with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and PDF-authoring tools (Adobe Acrobat or PDF-XChange Editor) for preparing technical reports.
Proven team player with demonstrated success working collaboratively with others.
Ability to clearly and concisely communicate complex technical issues in both written and verbal formats Clearance Requirements: Must have an active and current Secret security clearance prior to starting the position. Physical Requirements: Capable of operating standard office equipment (computers, printers, etc.).
Must be able to communicate professionally with colleagues, management, and clients, both in person and remotely.
