Technical Accounting Manager
Overview
The Technical Accounting and Financial Reporting function is responsible for ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP for all external financial reporting. This includes SEC periodic filings, quarterly earnings releases, and investor relations presentations. The Technical Accounting Manager will play a key role in addressing complex accounting transactions and issues, providing technical guidance, and ensuring accurate financial reporting.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Director of Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting, this role will:
Monitor, research, and assess new accounting standards, summarize key impacts for senior management, and lead process changes to ensure compliance.
Manage accounting and periodic reviews for complex areas such as business combinations, debt, impairment assessments, restructuring, investments, consolidations, stock-based compensation, and lease accounting.
Analyze and interpret complex transactions, apply relevant accounting standards, develop solutions, and effectively communicate results to stakeholders.
Oversee the preparation of internal and external financial reports, including board packages, SEC filings, and disclosures for complex accounting areas.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Tax, General Ledger, FP&A, Sales, Operations, IT, Treasury, Corporate Development, Legal, and Internal Audit.
Manage multiple workstreams and deadlines to ensure timely documentation and delivery of accounting conclusions.
Serve as a key liaison with external auditors and stakeholders to facilitate an efficient audit process.
Support special projects and drive workflow process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
5+ years of accounting/finance experience.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license required.
Experience in a Big 4 public accounting firm required; 3+ years preferred.
Strong technical accounting expertise with in-depth knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting standards.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization.
Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and attention to detail.
Experience with SAP and Workiva preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
Highly detail-oriented, organized, and self-motivated, with a proactive approach to driving innovation and process improvements.
