Technical Accounting Manager Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct in-depth research on accounting guidance (US GAAP) and draft position papers for complex topics like commodity transactions, derivatives, leases, and consolidations.
- Analyze draft contracts to provide technical accounting insights for high-impact transactions.
- Ensure revenue recognition processes are accurate, compliant, and completed on time.
- Lead a team in managing customer invoicing, maintaining precision and efficiency.
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analyses to support financial clarity.
- Deliver ad hoc reports with actionable insights on trends, variances, and key metrics for management and planning.
- Stay ahead of evolving FASB and SEC accounting standards to keep us at the forefront.
- Enhance accounting policies, processes, and internal controls to meet US GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley standards.
- Collaborate with external auditors to support annual audits, interim reviews, and SOX compliance.
Technical Accounting Manager Qualifications:
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
- 5+ years of experience in physical energy commodity accounting.
- Deep expertise in ASC 330 (Inventories), ASC 606 (Revenue), ASC 815 (Derivatives), and ASC 842 (Leases).
- Strong writing skills for documenting technical accounting positions.
- Proactive mindset with a knack for developing solutions independently.
- Process improvement enthusiast with innovative ideas.
- Collaborative spirit, comfortable working with global teams across time zones.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, data slicing) and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
