Team Manager - Early Help - Children Services - Croydon Council

Permanent - 36 hours per week

Job Purpose

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Team Manager to join us and support our talented team of Social Workers in driving the service forward. You will lead and manage team performance and foster a culture of continuous learning and reflective practice that inspires staff to excel in their roles.

The responsibilities include:

  1. Assessment and care planning for children in need, including those requiring protection and involved in legal proceedings.
  2. Direct work with children and families to achieve safety and well-being outcomes.
  3. Demonstrable understanding of early help practice, partnership working, and the impact of multiagency planning on children and young people's experiences and outcomes.
  4. Using systemic ideas in your work, promoting a practice philosophy that empowers service users, builds on strengths, and develops strategies to understand, manage, and respond to risks.

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
  • Working knowledge of national policies, strategies, and developments in children's social care.
  • Ability to lead improvement in social work practice through effective performance management.
  • Experience in leading and managing operational change effectively.
  • Proven ability to manage high-risk, high-complexity cases ensuring safeguarding and positive outcomes.
  • Experience supervising childcare social workers with demonstrated results.
